Managed to get a JVC one just up the road.

Just quickly tried it with one speaker and it works!......not that I doubted it would ;)

Time to get the drill out now and decide where to position the speakers.

Be back later if anymore probs........ if am not then thanks for the help its much appreciated. ;)

Right I think I got things wired up ok and working.

One question is the hiss through speakers normal?

This is more noticeable when there is no signal going through.

No hiss  .......any suggestions to where the prob might be?

Cycle through the inputs - is it constantly there on all inputs?

When you say "hiss" do you mean a white noise hiss or what? Can you be more specific?

Hi DRZ.

I can here the hiss through all the speakers when no signal is being sent through.

When signal is sent through (TV) I can faintly here it if I put my ear to the speakers.

Bit like when you put your ear to a sea shell and here the sea :)

So on CD/DVD/TV etc etc you can hear hiss? What level do you have the volume set at?

Input connected or not, by the way.

Yes can here the hiss whichever one it is switched to.

Soon as volume is turned up from -70.

Just disconnected all the speakers and tried one by one and still the hissing is there whichever one I try.

Does it with input not connected.

Hmm, that is odd. Could be a faulty unit - the only thing in there that could generate noise like that is the tuner.

The preamp would have to be pretty nailed for that to be the case! Odd indeed!

Just got one speaker connected nothing else and a soon as I turn the volume up there is a hiss.........stays the same level no matter how much the volume is turned up and not noticeable when watching TV.

If it is audible with everything disconnected at one notch above minimum I would return it - unacceptable to me.

My Denon 2805 was totally silent until some serious volume was applied (as I am sure Matblack can confirm ;)) so personally, that wouldnt stay in the DRZ household.

Oh as for the system specs:

Fronts are gonna be MS902s from next week
Centre MS304
Rear MS302s
Can you let me know how you get along with this, as it look like the route im guna be heading in soon.

Reading around on the AVForums shows that other people report a hissing/watery background sound with various amps.

Some of the advice given seems to say that this can happen and acceptable
