Mine is a Denon 2805 and doesn't hiss with my speakers which are easy to drive, however I have seen this in the past with my Marantz on certain settings, the speakers would give a watery noise when the amp was playing and set to Dolby prologic II, it seemed to be an issue with the decodeing, but a constant hiss from which can be noticed from the seated position is not acceptable.

My Denon 2805 was totally silent until some serious volume was applied (as I am sure Matblack can confirm ) so personally, that wouldnt stay in the DRZ household.
james.miller said:no, dont put up with it. my yamaha doesn't do it. It doesnt show hiss when you turn it up to the point that playing any sound would either destroy the speakers or send the amp straight into protection. Mine doesnt do it, your denon shouldnt either.

New speakers are in place and i am well impressed. Make a big difference over the 302s as fronts.
Because of our room shape, long and thin, my rears are closer than i would like and my fronts are further away, so the bigger speaker size evens out.
