Its very easy,BUT be careful the 4 screws that hold the HD in the caddy ,they round of very, very easy.Get yourself a pair of fine pointed pliers to help loosen the screws if you have any problems.

Yeah those screws were a bit of a bugger tbh, lucky I found a Phillips screwdriver that was a real snug fit, used an old cloth on the screwdrivers handle to give me a bit of extra grip and they eventually cracked lose, anyway, the new drive is in now and I've just started of the process of restoring the system using my backup, I was a bit surprised to see my user name and profiles/friends on the XMB after I put the new drive in, I guess that data is saved on the PS3's firmware, anyway thanks for your help mate.

Glad it installed ok matey enjoy the extra storage:)

Hey,

Sorry for the bump - just thrown a 500GB WD drive into my PS3 and I'm a bit shocked at the amount of available space on it! I note Sareth's comment earlier about the system reserving a certain % of space, but this is just a bit ridiculous:

Free Space 404GB / 465GB

(N.B. That is with a 10GB partition for Linux)

Bit silly how it uses a % rather than a set amount?! :( Would I be able to recover some space if I did a full format? I only did a quick format as it wanted 28 hours to do a full one!

Cheers,

Suman
