Swearing

The difference is, when the video was posted the rules were clear as it was absolute zero tolerance on swearing.

Now that popular culture largely contains swearing, we've chosen to relax the rules somewhat to allow infrequent swearing.

On the forums, it's still zero tolerance, but linked material there's a limit as what we'd deem acceptable. As per above - contact us if you're in doubt.

How do you stare out a swear word?

you need to look at it for a long time, eventually it'l avert its gaze and you will win

:D

well you can just type one and the filter does it for you, or you could think beforehand and just press the '*' key the relevant number of times to blank out the entire swear word.

Sorry, I was just being a **** and pointing out a mistake in the OP.

It must be very difficult getting the balance right when administering and moderating a forum of this size that's associated with a business at it's core, yet incredibly active with people from all walks of life across the UK (and the world) as a whole.

Many members don't appreciate how hard it can be. Take the swearing rules, for instance: the perceived severity of some words changes radically from person to person so drawing a line in the sand anywhere will always lead to disagreement. Mods have to make judgements all the time and they are only human (except the ultra-efficient Surveyor who, I'm told, was assembled at OcUK's black site in the Mojave).

If anyone's in doubt about anything at all just get in touch. I'm pretty active on the email (Trust) and am happy to bring things up on your behalf. :)

Does posting a gif of someone bursting a spot still get one a vacation?

:)

If it's unnecessary, disgusting and does not add value to its thread or the forum in general then a one-way ticket to AFKsville is the risk you run. :)

Wrong again. Rules are simple, break them and you are warned, then suspended.

Funnily enough, the MM is the one place I haven't gotten an infraction, suspension or ban from.

This means one of two things. 1: The moderation is lax. 2: I'm nice and polite because I want your money / gear. :p

Was that in preschool? I've never considered them swear words.

I do, different generation (old git) that I am. Seems we get inured and desensitised to the impact of the words over time.

One of the words quoted "bugger" may seem mild today but when you consider what the crime buggery is you can understand why it would be found offensive.

We need the self-professed linguist/wiki warrior back so he can pompously give the etymology of the sayings and then get into handbag war over a point that wasn't actually made. :D

Fair play :)

Indeed...as evident in this very thread.

I learnt the hard way (Thanks Dirty Jester ;)) about swearing in videos.

Like people say, common sense. Don't abuse the new rules or they will change again.
