Jag wahr.

That word has passed through 3 languages and been modified each time, then remodified in a backformed mashup of languages for American English. Who knows which pronunciation, if any, is right? Or even if there is such a thing as a right pronunciation? For the car manufacturer, I'd go with the pronunciation favoured by the founder of the company. Whatever that was.

On a vaguely related note to this bit of the thread about German names, I read yesterday that Volkwagen's best selling product is a sausage. I thought "eh?" and looked into it. It's true. It has an official Volkswagen part number and is labelled as an authentic Volkswagen part with an official part number. The backstory is suprisingly sensible for what initially sounds very strange - Volkswagen did (and does) its own catering in its factories, they made their own sausage for that purpose and it was so popular amongst their employees that they decided to start selling it commercially and it has been quite successful.
