I'm currently running a Synology DS215j with 2 WD Red 3tb drives in raid 1 setup, I also use a spare 1tb external drive to do a weekly backup, this drive is now full and needs replacing.
Thinking out loud is it possible to replace the DS215j with a 4 bay Synology NAS swop the 2 3tb drives over to the new NAS add an internal drive to cover the weekly backup and then use the 4th HD slot for small HD to store footage from Synology Surveillance station?
