Hi

I am considering the Synology 2 bay offerings. Is there a significant difference between the standard and "j" systems? Is it worth spending the extra if all I want it a mirror RAID to store my data safely?

Also, based on your experience which is the best value for money drive at 2TB at the moment out there (reliability/noise comes first, performance second ...)?

"j" versions have lower spec CPUs and less memory:

If you're not interested in running any of the Synology features (web, itunes, etc.) then "j" is probably enough.

HDD prices have increased up to 50% in the last couple of days.

It may be a few months before they come down again so I'd wait if you can.
