Anyone know what this is...

is affecting my mates PC big time...

Well what happened was, his pc kept crashing, so he opened it in safe mode and deleted what I am guessing is the Ksecdd file. when he starts in safe mode or any other mode it just has a black screen...

The ksecdd.sys file is part of the "kernal security support" it is used in the login part of windows. It probably needs the file in order to log users on.

Should be very careful when deleting .sys files.

EDIT: How far does it get before the black screen appears?

well he deleted it, now all he gets is a black screen and nothing else, do u think he will need to format...

He could just do a repair install on it if he has the disc...

Does he have the Windows CD, if so try the system restore function. That should fix the problem.
