system restore won't work

Does anyone know why system restore sometimes states "no changes have been made to you computer " even though loads of changes have been made :confused:

My last pc use to often use to do the same thing to !

Its usually caused by installing something it cant remove for whatever reason. I found norton caused this for me on XP, could not restore to before it was installed. Try another restore point if you have one. It might seem like its restoring, but if it reports at the end it could not, it is rolled back to before you started the restore.

I guess that makes some sence ,have tried formar restore points going back several weeks but none of them seem to be working !
Just running anther avg virus scan !
Think a fresh windows install is needed ,amazing how much rubbish you end up with on a pc in just a couple of months !
Must stop downloading these rubbish free programs !

TBH, it sounds like you would be better off doing a clean install if you suspect that there might be some virus activity.
