Never played SS1 or 2, are they worth playing these days?

Considering the people involved in the production of the game, I am 99% sure this will be Game of the Year material, couldn't have wished for a better sequel announcement then this, for an amazing franchise.
Well, Night Dive studios have already done an enhanced version of SS1, but I'm holding off until the remake is finished.

SS2 is still definitely worth playing, though I would recommend modding it - even if it's just a basic texture pack like the SHTUP mod.

The original SS1 might just be too much hard work. You can get it on GOG.
SS2 with the texture mod is most definitely worth a play through. Play it on your own. In the dark. With ear phones.

They are supposed to be great games I tried 2 with mods but 1 was too dated but its being remade and was BioShock not 18 years in the making (an idea at least) and basically based on System Shock 3 so it was said at the time?

Nope, played them at the time as a young nipper.
Tried them a couple of times, but each time just got borred and gave up part way through the game.
I've not really played the first one though I did pick up the enhanced version when it was cheap as chips. The second game, however, I have played a fair bit but I do always prefer to limit the number of respawning enemies. There are also a number of mods for it as well which do a nice job of making the experience more accessible.
Another System Shock'ish type game I think you will all love is Atomic Heart. It looks very creepy like the SS games.
