Tabletop Warhammer?

Managed to pick up a box online and a box in store this morning before they both sold out. So if anyone midlands is after a box and missed out there will be an extra available at the Solihull store.

I wonder if I'll actually build and paint them before they release the rest of the units and I can actually have a proper army of them. I doubt it.

I kind of wish they did a better box which has more than 3 out of seven of the new units in it.

I've just watched a video on emperor's children and realised how half-assed this launch is. They don't even have proper dedicated long-range shooting, that will have to be filled with either land raiders or allied war dogs, which is obviously a bit of a waste considering you can't use stratagems on them etc.
They'll probably get some more dedicated stuff in the next edition

I think thats a bit OTT. Its a lot of new models:

Fulgrim
Lucious
Lord Exultant
Tormentors
Infractors
Noise Marines
Flawless Blades

Id argue its better than both the Kreig and the Eldar releases put together tbh.

Most reviews I have watched say it’s one of the best army boxes GW have launched.

As a painter the release looks unreal. I just don’t know why I didn’t pull the trigger.

I like the Emperor’s children, Fulgrim was based. I read the army is easy to play but has a learning curve to master.

It has my hopes up for the Space wolves refresh.

Painting the army pink is the perfect excuse to have “Pink Pony Club” playing in the background.

One of those is an 18" shooting unit. Eldar already have established units whereas EC didn't.
What you going to use beyond 18"? Aeldari was just a refresh on some ancient models, not really the same, don't know about krieg as I've never paid any attention to guard stuff.

I think you're just getting caught up on how they look (Which is unsurprising because they do look quite good) without considering the function, they have nowhere near the breadth or depth of Aeldari and nor should they considering how long Aeldari has been out beyond recent refreshes.

I guess if that's just the flavour they've gone for then so be it but that will be the weakest long range shooting army in the whole game, heck even world eaters get predator tanks and lord of skulls. Though to be fair that's on me for not doing my research first. If I realised they were that basic I would have left it, cuz that's why I'm starting a second army because I find chaos too basic as it is and that's got way more variety.

I'm honestly a bit undecided if I bother trying another army now. Or do I just accept that I find other games more fun like trench crusade (and the models are a cut above)

Not really, I appreciate your concerns but EC have always been about the fast moving close range engagements and feels like they are actually leaning into that. You obviously disagree but I like how they are leaning into it.

I'm not really familiar with them in terms of mechanics from any other edition. Thing is I look at something like the white scars who are also a fast moving close range army and yet they still have all of the firepower to back up medium and long range.
And it just seems strange that they've cut out things like Forgefiends, predators, helbrutes, and other units that the other individual chaos factions can take. I don't know, maybe I'll actually enjoy playing as them, won't know unless I try.
