Tabletop Warhammer?

How old do you think it's pleasant considering it's goopy and messy, where as IPA just pop something in a jar and take it out
API- stinks, harsh on skin so have to wear gloves but that didn’t stop it splashing up my arms or on my face and I left more of a mess in the sink after scrubbing with a tooth brush. More labour intensive and longer. Even with a sonic cleaner it still took quite a bit of scrubbing. Sonic cleaner can also melt warhammer plastic I’ve broken wee antennas in the past.

Biostrip- Dipped it in then left it on a bit of paper for 5 mins then rinse and scrub under the tap. Paint was just dropping off. On the second go I just applied it with a small paint brush to the areas that needed it.

You definitely need runing water or a basin. Warm water is supposed to be even better.

Not my experience at all, would only sting if I had cuts on my fingers and certainly never got it up my arms and face lol. Never needed a sonic cleaner tbh, toothbrush under tap and it was sorted.
I wonder if IPA varies in effectiveness between brands or something even if they claim to be 99.9% strength. Interesting.

Suppose could depend what paints and stuff you used too.

I got my API from a local fiberglass company. Stuff’s very potent. Got it for cleaning 3D resin prints. I do have sensitive skin. Even if I didn’t I still wouldn’t use it without PPE.

Yes the Biostrip is gloopy but over all was minimal effort and very little tiddy up and super quick.

To be honest, I can't even recall the last time I stripped a mini. I just don't see the need anymore. I just rather rebase it in black and go again.

Go post it on Reddit and trigger all the people who will say yeah great. Now let's see it built and painted lol
My retirement plan mate :D I actually find the Spacewolves and black Templar Reddit threads pretty chill.

Just reprimed Haldor (Space wolves LT) and hopefully test out a new scheme with Vallejo paints. I liked the AK scheme but fancy a bit more saturation and the Vallejo is a bit nicer to use through the airbrush. Plus they have a 100% colour matched Airbrush line :D

Worst part over, the one on the right I made my own version, the other two are manual defaults bar heads.

Was a bit nervous the arm/sword wouldn't fit as I had forgotten to put the cloak bit on but worked out in the end.

Being lazy and dabbling in multiple things at once lol

All I got to do is dab some pigments on a few bases and black rim and I got a full squad done for me Black Templars done but I’ve been playing around with my Space wolves scheme which I think I like!! Just waiting for gloss varnish to set before trying an oil wash :D

Can't even imagine how much Id have done if I saw stuff all the way through before starting something else lol.

I set down like 3 times now to finish off the Templars and got side tracked hah. I think part of me wants to add a little height to the bases with bark and cork

Modelling for advantage! Seize him!

Yeah that was about it. The rest of it was generic Space Marine combat patrols lol. Though I'm glad I don't get excited about half this stuff anymore because it means I'll spend less :D

Yeah good if you already play/collect that factions all pretty solid. Death watch kill team looks cool.

Still have a craving for Nighthaut

Actually thought of a use case for that biostrip today. Got a dreadnought I wouldn't mind stripping because it's got loads of coats on it, but it's too big for my IPA pot.

I think I'm at peace with never doing the dark angels, as much as I love deathwing knights, the heraldry etc on the marines just does my head in, I know you don't need to follow it. I've got 5 terminators painted as Salamanders and some as Iron Hands, I think Salamanders look way more interesting though so when/if I ever get round to doing my marines, I think I'll go for the bright green boys.
It's hard to get excited about black colour schemes though I did see a nice one the other day for IH, only thing that puts me off though is having to get even more oils, I'll end up with more of those than paints at this rate, and they are a faff to use.

Well I finally have my BT done and they are just drying and almost had a disaster with my Space wolve. Took the hairdryer to him to speed up the oil wash wash drying and it started to blow the wash everywhere hah!!

Yeah I don't touch oils with a hairdryer for that reason. Currently sat staring at my Knight tyrant wondering how I'm going to make it looks less clean but without ruining it.
Problem is because it's orange, I'm not sure what colour to try sponge chipping and stuff and I'm too scared of ruining it.
I guess first step is get the panel lining done with black, thought about brown but too close to the orange.
Also I forget what order to do things, like should I do weathering before I gloss it or do I do it after I've done the oil lining and then cover it with the matte varnish.
Then I get paralysed and put off working on it.

Maybe I'll just get the gloss on the bottom, slap winter streaking grime or goons grime all over the metal and then reduce that

Bah I guess I can't because I need to add some different colours to the metal parts first as it's all the same and boring.

SAcrificed a wardog to see what it would look like if I just went and splashed goons grime all over it and then reduced. Yeah its more interesting than the freshly painted look for sure.
