Did the same thing. Bad game, period. Imo if the first 10mins or so of a game aren't enjoyable, then the rest is crap.
Well the beta i played awhile ago put you through this God awful training mission, which basically went running back and forth to a few people not 2 metres away from each other.
Also one of my biggest problems with it was that i couldn't change the graphics settings at all. The defaulted to low all the time and each time you tried to change then it told you to exit the game and restart it, thus defaulting them back to low again.
The gameplay itself just felt poor. Too me it just feels like SWG after the patch that ruined everything.
One of the biggest disapointments in the last couple of years for me. Been looking forward to it for 2 years. Was supposed to reinvent MMO's all it did was churn out the same old rubbish in a different wrapper. Very poor (imo).
Indeed I was enveloped in the Garriott hype train, turns out he's just made an extremely generic sci-fi mmo that brings very little to the table in terms of creativity.

Same here, I have always found that if a game does not grab you within your first play session then it's not for me.
I realy wanted to enjoy it, but it just did'nt grab me at all. I disliked the control system the loot method the chat system, the camera, back to Lineage for me.

meh, personally when you get a crosshair, then you fire and realise its auto hit type crap with no effort involved its a let down. it looks fairly poor. so far i had issues with current drivers and ultra and very high settings, some artifacting, the high setting is fine though, looks basically the same to me, and that level of detail is extremely poor, it looks like a 5 year old game with a couple nice bits thrown in, though that can change easily by the end.
but the gameplay, i mean, nothing new at all so far, horrible and really boring combat. right now the servers are completely beyond a joke. constant reboots, i was disconnecting from the game every 10 mins maximum. sometimes my guns would fail to unholster and shoot requiring me to disconnect and reconnect. absolutely nothing about it so far indicates it will be remotely interesting. even little things like, having any window open, log, mission info, inventory causes, at least for me, the mouse looking to cease working, and no button combo i can find allows it. which means every time you pick something up and the bag opens you can't look around, reading mission info you can't look around. the windows look pretty bad, the whole layout is bad, just everything really sucks at the moment.

i've not installed it yet ... after reading the posts ... i dunno if i want to try it now :/

Yeah that whole locked camera when a window opened drove me nut's, surely it can't be a bug so far into development and if it is the way it's ment to be then
that was a game breaker for me on it's own.
I can see it possible getting old fairly quickly. So far though had the beta a couple of days n largely enjoying myself. Id recommend folks to take a look at least. Make sure you have a quick play through the tutorial, gives you a few bits early on to get a minor head start. Not really played with the cloning idea much yet - will see how that goes. Currently level 8 so still in the starting zone (but compared to others running around I think my gears pretty decent). Getting around in a hurry is kinda decent, doesnt make u run everywhere (think like wow is in burning crusade with 2 or 3 griff points per zone scaled up a bit. Now make them teleporters instead so no annoying flight time). You get a sprint ability too by default. Can see the combat and group work being interesting once theres a proper group of folks levelling through together.
I currently gone with a soldier build, undecided if im gonna go guardian (tank) or the stealth guy (dps). Will likely make use of my clone when the split becomes available then can try both
(the clone is a direct copy of your character at the time of the clone).
