I was in the beta for Tabula Rasa and didn't intend to buy it but I picked it up cheap the other day and was surprised to find that there has been a big improvement over what I saw in beta. Anyone looking for a sci-fi mmorpg should give it a crack, despite what some reviews have said. I'm really enjoying it so far. If anyone fancies a go I can hook them up with a 3-day trial key.

Is anyone else on here playing it? Would be great if there was a clan with a few of us in it.

I would be interested. Looked at it a few times but i think a shop is still trying to flog it for £29.99 where i live so never bothered with it. I like Sci-fi games. Wish a mechwarrior/battletech online game would come out too...

<ColiN> - is it mostly PvP or PvE type game?

My whole clan got into the beta, and promptly dropped like a hot coal, couldn't stand it.

I didn't pick it up until about a month after release, and I can't stop playing it, think it's excellent :)

Edit - it's all PvE at the moment bar duelling. There's a lot it doesn't have yet, but the atmosphere, class structure, and fast paced pseudo-fps combat are pretty cool.

Some amazing instances in the game too.

Can't get to it from work, but there's a 3 day trial. Should be details at www.rgtr.com

They really messed up with the release of the game - they treated the beta as something to catch bugs and polish the game, rather then using it as a marketing exercise.

Look at the WoW beta and Guild Wars pre-release open weekends. The games were practically finished, and they generated tons of interest via their betas. Because of that though, now everyone goes into a beta expecting it to be a free trial of the finished game. Sounds like TR was a bit of a mess when they let people in, and it put everyone off.

Pity, it's in great shape now, well worth a look.

Will go have a look and will trya nd get the 3 day trail of it too... look for a guy called Ripper in their looking lost... that be me!

I agree beta was terrible and they let in too many people. Beta was that bad I just cant face picking up the retail might have a go at the trial when I can be bothered.

On reflection looks like devs for WAR have it right in not letting many in. Unless you're an experienced tester, most are in it just for a free game when they realise its not what they expected they say its rubbish.

Im afraid im guilty of that.

looks intriguing. how do they handle the fps side of the combat? twitch or stats? would be nice to play a decent scfi-mmorpg.

Only thing that puts me off is the monthly fee - think i'll wait for a long trial of it.

Its not fps it's 3rd person with a kind of auto aim with stats, you hover a crosshair over the target area and select it.

The best part for me so far is control points. They're like your standard mmorpg town and when you (the AFS) have control of them you got access to vendors, missions, teleporter etc. However they are constantly being contested between you and the enemy (the Bane) and if the Bane take control you have to take it back if you want to use the base, so it gives you the feeling of being involved in a proper conflict.

Is anyone in a clan who get involved in the PvP side of things?

Nope, wouldn't mind starting one up if enough people here are interested though. One of the negative aspects is that the game is so fast paced that when you''re grouped you don't have much time to chat. It's just a lot of running and shooting, and quite often screaming in terror :)

I like the runnning/shooting/screaming :D Although I'm hoping there will be a bit more communication at the higher levels when soloing becomes tricky and teamwork comes into play.

I'd be very happy starting up a clan too, however I am keen to get involved with PvP clan wars and that may not suit everyone. Tabula Rasa players let yourselves be know! Maybe we can start something up.

No problem guys - let me know if you need any help, my character's name is Lir. Also if you didn't know already your characters all share the same surname and it can't be changed unless you delete them all and start over. So take care when choosing :)

Anyone who plays already let me know your character names so I can put a list together and possibly look at starting a clan.

I totaly agree, I have Exteel (free to play) it is mechs, but not really what I want. There is a game called Force of Arms (think that's it) coming out sometime.
