Just once it would be worth being in a supercar when you have some chavved up nova up your backside and then just floor it.
I'm fairly sure that the offical line on Tailgaters is to slow down slightly in order to increase the distance between yourself and the car i front. The purpose of this being that should the vehicle in front have to brake you can do so more gently allowing the idiot behind sufficient room to stop.

Strikes me as counter intuitive and a touch ironic but certainly my usual tactic, although i have been known to put the foot down. Only thing that tends to get my goat up us people cruising along in an outside lane of a dual carriageway at 60 simply unaware that this is not the limit!
I never have this problem now I ride a bike
Back in the days of old though when I drove my car, I had a chav tailgating me so close I couldnt see his lights. I was doing 30 in a 30. I noticed he was drinking a large mcdonalds coffee so waited for him to take a sip then BAM slammed my brakes on. Coffee everywhere and Mr Chav had to pull over to sort himself out.
I try hard not to rise to it, I did let them past when it was safe to do so, whereupon some form of projectile was dispatched from the passenger window. Sometimes I despair of humanity.
Rgds
I've been thinking about getting one of those 12V scrolling LED's off the bay for a while and pre-programming it with some choice phrases for the middle lane hoggers and rubber-neckers on the motorway that cause tailbacks. Not sure where it lies in the legality stakes though.
Try resting your left foot gently on the brake so your stop lights come on, same effect but you don't get a rear ending.![]()
What else do drivers have to go on if they don't have a GPS unit in their car?![]()
