Tailgating

Yes I have, muppet was tailgating an unmarked Police car. Lights came on, pull over son. Made me smile :)

That to me?

A flamer kit (or flameage of some sort) will be gracing my car in the not so distant future ;) :D

Got some other shiny bits to fit soon though which should keep me occupied for a while
Yea, should've quoted really... :o

Nice, it should keep the white vans at bay ;)

Just bumping this thread rather than make a new one, so I can have a rant about tailgaters.

I seem to be getting tailgated a lot recently and it is very annoying. I am not someone who drives at unrealistically low speeds or who sticks to the exact speed limit and not 1mph over.

Today I was doing about 35 indicated on a 30 road, and a family car driven by a couple and their children was close behind. In fact he could have easily overtaken if he wanted to go faster, but didn't. I then indicated left and slowed down to let him pass - they did pass and the woman in the passenger seat looked at me as if I'd done something unusual. I bet people like this would be the first to crucify me if I hit their kids because I was doing 40 instead of 30 yet they think it's okay to sit up my backside. I do have a right to drive at the speed I was doing - it isn't as if I was crawling along at 30 on a 40 road. You have the right to wish I was going faster, but you don't have the right to bully me into doing so. People who do this would not like to be tailgated themselves - who does? So why do it then? Oh and after all that, he didn't drive any quicker when he had the road to himself!

Other times you get people, usually in white vans, pickup trucks or BMWs, driving up your arse because you are doing say 40 in a 60 - even though you are in a huge line of traffic. Do these people not grasp the concept that I cannot go faster than the car in front is going.

No point to this rant, just that driving is often frustrating.

Drive the speed limit, as you pass the next set of NSL signs, and just as they're making a move to pass, hang them out to dry and feel inadequate (not possible in a 106 I'm afraid). Almost every one I've done it to has kept their distance at the next 40mph section.

Note: I'm quite happy to let anyone by who doesn't drive in my boot. Only fun to play with morons.

it is the answer.

resting foot on brake pedal also works... i dont mean braking.. just lighting the lights up.... lol

Yo dawg! We know you like lighting your lights up, so we put a light in yo light so you can light yo lights up when yo are lighting yo lights up, dawg.

I dunno why people this. I've noticed it when following someone else and the car infront turns off, they look across down the road they turned off at afterwards

Had a few like that recently, going down a hill in third doing about 30-35 the limit is 30, and this red escort van is sitting right on my bumper, its late at night so there is nothing coming the other way, i even moved over to give them even more space, but no, he likes sitting behind me.

Round a few bends, on a perfectly straight bit of road, 35 he's still right there, so i take my foot off let it slow down, by this point i am doing 20 and he is still sitting there! i have to indicate before this moron will get past me.
And as you said, he didn't go much faster once he was past.

I wish they would grasp the concept to go faster than me they have to go around me, not through me.

Same thing again in the same place a couple nights later (loadsamoney will know where i mean, i think its the road past his house) another idiot in an A4 with only some R8 style fairy lights on and nothing else, he eventually back off and stayed a good way back.

Coming up to christmas the standard of driving has dropped dramatically.
