October 21th, 2014 – Today, GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, launched its new service and quality offensive for their GIGABYTE Black Edition series motherboards, based on the latest Intel Z97 chipset.

GIGABYTE has always been known to produce high quality, stable motherboard products for years. To provide their loyal customers with even more security and confidence in its products GIGABYTE has now drastically expanded their service for motherboards.

All customers who purchase a new 9 series Black Edition motherboard (models listed below), tested on 168h server level benchmarks are able to register for the ultimate and unique UPGRADE WARRANTY.

So what is the Ultimate Upgrade Warranty you ask?

This upgrade warranty provides the customer the right to exchange their 9 Series Black Edition motherboard within three years of the purchase date for one model from a future series.

If the customers prefers a GIGABYTE motherboard from a future series better or they want to use a new CPU with a different chipset base, their Black Edition motherboard may be returned within three years and they will receive free of charge a brand new next generation motherboards.

Details of this UPGRADE WARRANTY are found at: http://bk.gigabyte.eu/EN_bk_UK_Ireland.html.

On top of this 3 year UPGRADE WARRANTY, the GIGABYTE customers receive an extended manufacturer’s warranty of 60 months, yes 5 years when they register, so if they are happy to keep their motherboard and not upgrade its covered under a 5 year warranty.

The link to register for this UPGRADE WARRANTY is on a special GIGABYTE website: http://bk.gigabyte.eu/EN_register_UK_Ireland.aspx

The GIGABYTE Black Edition 9 series motherboards included into this promotion are:

These motherboards are available at Overclockers UK now so you can buy today and register for the UPGRADE WARRANTY NOW just remember you have up to 4 weeks from the purchase date to register and qualify.

Yours GIGABYTE UK Team

Apologies - I meant the 60 month.

Sure thought so just wanted to be clear before I answered

BK edition boards come with a 3 years warranty, if you then register it with GIGABYTE you get it extended to 5 years and an upgrade choice, at any point in the first three years of that warranty period you are entitled to upgrade to a next/new-gen board.
This new upgraded motherboard is then covered under that same warranty as the original board you registered.
So if you upgrade after one year your new upgraded board will be covered under that same warranty for four year or if you wait 3 years until you upgrade your new motherboard will be covered for 2 year.....

I only buy gigabyte MB's as well, I know what my next purchase will be, its a good way for a skylake upgrade I feel. Buy MB now then processor when they come out.
This is going to get gigabyte a lot of sales I feel and is a great idea.
I take it they will be selling the returned MB's as well?
Say you get a ud3h now and want a ud5h later on, can you pay extra to upgrade?

If you want to upgrade to a higher end next generation motherboard to the version you originally bought you can pay the extra yes.

How is the upgrade option decided? Another Gigabyte board of the same price paid originally?

So if I bought a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK, in 2 years I could then swap this for a LGA 1151, Z170/H170 chipset (Skylake) worth the same price as I paid for the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK?

Yes that is the plan or if you wait longer and it's within the 3 year you could even upgrade to the generation after Skylake.

Question to GIGA-Man: By referring to Great Britain is exclusion of N.I. and Channel Islands deliberate or are they meant to also be included?

The referral to Great Britain will be corrected into United Kingdom (which includes N.I. of course).

Has anyone else had problems registering?

I've filled it out and it's said I've registered, but I've not had any confirmation via email. The button at the bottom ("present now???") doesn't seem to work so the only way I could do it was to hit enter in one of the boxes after I'd filled it out.

Sorry for the problem. Please try again paying the attention to serial number (where to find SN). If still not solved then send the screenshot of the input data to this email address: [email protected]. We will help then.

Question: when registering for this, what do I put in the 'purchase price' section given that I bought the bundle with the 4790k?

So you don't have the price listed on your invoice for the mobo? If this is the case please contact us under: [email protected] providing your invoice.
Don't forget that you can also claim your cashback if you bought the bundle - see details here.

Thanks

@-Mike-
We let you (or anyone who participates in this programme) upgrade once within the 3 years. It’s your decision when you want to upgrade. And based on this WHEN it’s of course also to what chipset series: Z170 now or successor in the future.

@WgizmO
There is no X99 based upgrade in any way.
