To die by your side......
So i just ordered, received, and ate a 9" Meat feast pizza with stuffed crust.

It cost me £10.20, pizza is £8.20, but delivery under £10 is £1.80, so i thought for 20p it was worth paying £2 to get the crust stuffed :)

But, why does it still cost so much? I can go to Tesco and buy one of the finest pizzas they sell for less than a fiver, can £5 really be the cost of cooking the pizza considering they probably have an oven on the go 24/7 with multiple pizzas inside?

They are running a business?

The cost of the ingredients is almost irrelevant.

They need to pay for the overheads: wages, vehicles, fuel, electricity, water, rent

It's vastly cheaper to buy a LARGER pizza from a food merchant and cook it. Not as much choice but still, cheaper if you like standard stuff.

Sounds like you ordered from pizzahut or similar?

Total rip off. You'll get a larger, fuller and tastier pizza from a local chippy for far less.

The OPs prices seem about right for the pizza places around here, such as Perfect Pizza.

I'm not sure if I would want a £6 pizza from a chip shop.

12" at my locals are around £6 (+ del if required - I usually pick up) and very nice. I don't understand wh anyone goes to Dominos ever - from what I've tasted it's not the best, but you'd think they use gold instead of Oregano with the prices :s

dominos is awesome, and for £7-8 per 12" pizza on a tuesday it is easily affordable the once a month that me and the GF have it

I refuse to order Pizza from take away on principle because of that. I know I can get an Indian or Chinese with a lot more variety for same amount of cash or less.

That said, i have no problem going to pizza express, as you go to a resturant for the atmosphere, company, not just the food.

Yeah why bother, I can eat a large dominos/pizza hut, chicken combo (with wedges) in one sitting and no i aint fat!!! (weight lifting)

seriously if your gonna pay for a takeout at least get something worth eating

The number of pizzas I have burnt after having a few beers or "just finishing this bit" of a film or game, takeaway pizza is the way to go for me.. although £10 for a 9" does seem a little steep.

They can pretty much dictate what price they want to charge I guess, as others have said they are a business and what the product actually costs to what you buy it from are 2 completely different things. A lot of it is paying for the convenience
