I don't tend to do it, find it a bit odd, but some people like doing it. I seem to remember someone on here getting a right roasting for doing it a few years ago

One thing is for sure - if you take a big camera with you, the staff are going to make a note of it, not sure whether that's a good or bad thing. The GM of Next (Chicago) was saying on twitter that they might refer to table x "on a safari"

I guess if you are then discreetness is the key, no flash etc as mentioned.

If you're talking about the staff then I agree, since waiting staff looking down on people is funny since they're basically servants. However I look down on people that take photos at posh restaurants if I'm a customer, sorry .

I don't think it's pathetic or chavvy, it's nice to remember a good experience. However I agree that as long as it's done discreetly i.e. no flash is best.

I think it's worse that you don't capture any memories of good times together. We have the technology these days - why waste it? I like to see a timeline of my life in pictures. The occasional cringe photo is worth it in the long run.
