Taking the dashboard button out of 360 pad

See this bit Jumpurs, discipline works with one lad but not him, trust me i wouldn't be considering taking apart a pad if a good old fashioned whoop down worked.

Still it seems so extreme. Surly he would learn not to do something detrimental to his enjoyment, after a short while?

(Not that I know much about that kind of situation btw)

Oh and of course theres many other cheap consoles out there he could play where you wouldn't have to worry about such issues. If hes young enough not to understand about settings surly he won't demand the latest and greatest games?

Not necessarily, i am not claiming to knwo the OP's situation (i have proved that already lol) But my GF's brother has a brain injury and it causes him some memory issues, so if you ask him to stop doing something, he will stop, but sometimes 15 minutes later, he may do it again. And that is simple things like asking him to stop calling people a dumb ass lol
This lad could have a similar issue, he genuinely forgets that he is doing wrong until reminded and by then it is too late.

Hmm While I agree on that point, changing the language seems rather specialized thing to do. A child stumbling on the settings by accident seems unlikely or a user feeling they have to change the language while playing a game.

If its as bad as looking purposly to mess up the game then I can't see taking out the button being a worthwhile endevour as there will always be something a child could potentially do to spoil/interupt the experience if thats what there trying to do.

Games absolutely but next gen consoles these days are more complex than ever... almost like PC's and many people wouldn't let their children loose on them! :)

isn't that why the OP has asked this question so he can at least try and hide away all that stuff from his kids so they wont be able to alter many if any settings while still enjoyin all the latest titles :)

What an odd comment. I think it's fairly obvious.

Not really. To play a console game you stick the disc in and play, anything else is optional.

Internet connections, player accounts, dashboards, graphic settings, online stores etc etc

Yeah but you don't need to fiddle with any of them to play games. (aside from player accounts which a fool could work out)

Also the 360/PS3 automatically pick optimal resolutions if you have your HDTV's plugged in, not that everybody is going to be 'smart' enough to plug in the correct cables, but anyway.

I think you are missing the point. It's the fact that those options are there in the first place, essential or not to playing a game, that presents the problem.

Children are naturally curious anyway and will play with things even when told not to. It would be even more of an issue with a child who has learning difficulties I would imagine.
