Tales Of Monkey Island

I'm glad to see others enjoying it, I can't help but think anyone that doesn't just doesn't understand it. :p
Too many people complaining about the graphics and controls imo, and that's not what the game is about.

I'm just glad this genre is making a strong comeback. I was never good at Monkey Island or any of the other games but I really loved them anyway. I bought this the day the pre-order was announced and have spent like 4 hours with the game. Now that's 4 hours and I'm probably half-way into it, so that should tell about how bad I'm with these games. But damn do I love them :)

Things like controls aren't really that important to me in games like these. As long as you can make Guybrush move one way or the other, it's good enough. I prefer the old look, but I can live with the new one. Plus I like the voice acting.

Oh and ordering directly from Telltale got me the game quite a bit cheaper because I could exploit the $ to € conversion rate like it should be exploited (ie. not 1:1) ;)

I'm glad to see it make comeback too. :) It seemed to drop off the map once 3D shooters started to really take off, and people started getting obsessed with making shinier better looking games, and seemed to forget all about the story and humour.

I'm a bit mixed on my favourite Guybrush design. 3 is just a higher res version of how he looked in 1 imo, but I feel I always preferred how he looked in the second game, which is more like this version. Loaded up with booty and swan ky clothes. :D

I feel that the design in ToMI fits the character and Dominic Armato's voice really well. So as far as I'm concerned, he's Guybrush through and through. :) The controls I couldn't care less on, they work fine imo, and that's all that they need to do if you ask me.

Whilst I really like steam, I really like what Telltale have been doing, and I feel like I should support them directly. The way they give their products away seems far better than everyone else's plans as well.

Download on release and get a disk later for £25? Can't argue with that. :)

Telltale have said it is not for them to reveal the "Secret" of Monkey Island, that honour lies with Lucas Arts so we shall see.

I completed the game early this morning and have to say I loved it, my First Monkey Island game too.

Oh, and what a cliffhanger

I thought that only Ron Gilbert knew the secret of Monkey Island, and he's said he'll take it to the grave. :)

Aye it was a bit.

I have a suspicion I know who's just turned up, but you won't know them if this is your first MI game. :)

Still says "coming soon" on their site...

Could it be the 15th Stateside in which case we'd have a few more hours to wait?

Also, are these new tales worth getting if I've never played any (yes ANY) of the original games?

The fact that I was only 2 when it was released is my excuse :p

No excuse, I've played them all and I'm no older! :p

If you enjoy this kind of game you'll still enjoy them, but it does feel very aimed towards people with some background knowledge series.

I would at least play the Secret of Monkey Island (SE or not it's the same story) for an introduction to all the basic characters, and a few of the in jokes. :)

What's the point of a secret you can't share with anyone? I don't think anybody would want to die suffering the emnity of thousands of fans. He'll probably announce it in his will or something.

Or more likely in my opinion... There is no secret, it was just a catchy title for a game that wasn't expected to be a cult classic, hence the reluctancy to share it. ;)

I hope I'm wrong though. :(

Just a reminder for everyone.

The remake of the Secret of Monkey Island is out today on XBLA and PC supposedly. :)
I bought it already on 360 this morning its terrific. Very polished HD gfx. NOT developed by TT so nothing to do with them whatsoever its all Lucasarts and they even use their Lucasfilm movie animation studio in singapore according to the credits. Speech is fine although no animation on mouths when they talk in close-up. Overall well worth buying although on 360 it has a small black border around it @1080p you cannot get it fullscreen as the on the fly switch to old school gfx means they wanted to preserve the aspect ratio.

Will be picking this up later on PC as well as so cheap and worth every penny (Steam says it unlocks in 3 hours now but I want a non steam version).

Same here, bought it on Xbox.com already, and will get it on steam later tonight.

Will be the first game I've bought on multiple platforms on release.

Obsessed much? :(
