Whats the catch?

12 month contract, £30 a month, 400 minutes, 1000 texts, 1Gb of internet and it uses the Vodafone network.

Sorely tempted - the only issue I've had with Giffgaff is the dire data network and terrible signal quality provided by O2, so the opportunity to benefit from the lower rates of a virtual operator but the solid network performance of Vodafone is tempting.

But is there a catch? They don't cut down the data speed or anything like that.. right?

I cannot find anything comparable on Vodafone themselves - and I'm loath to pick T-Mobile without them sharing 3g signal with Orange.

Their customer services are meh, but other than that, no catch.

They are taking a volume over margin approach with these.

That is an extremely good deal, works out at £460, so it's not really ridiculously cheap but it is cheap and 12 months too.

Where is that though? I can only find that deal on Mobiles.co.uk and it's £150 for the phone.

As far as I know, only T-Mobile cap data speeds through third party places, I've never heard of Vodafone doing it in any form so it should be ok.

My GiffGaff coverage (O2) is worse than my recently left T-Mobile coverage, so I wouldn't be to concerned about that. T-Mobile is also still unlimited data iirc. However, I've never been on Vodafone so cannot comment on there network, and this contract does look great, especially at 12 months!

I got my Galaxy S2 on this contract, although that was £150 for the phone.

e2save service is good, very quick delivery and kept me updated. Talkmobile, so far have been brilliant. Not had to deal with customer services really, but I'm getting data speeds ranging from 1.5mb up to 6mb+ in the city centre on HSDPA. This is a huge increase over what I used to get on Orange, plus I seem to get 3G signals in many more places.

That sounds very impressive Invertigo, it seems like you're basically on Vodafone at a big discount then.

Very good deal.

How long will 1gig data last? Is that for music/video and unlimited browsing?

I'm super mega tempted!

It really doesn't matter how long it will last, because unless you go on Giffgaff (crap speeds) or pay a lot more for unlimited on Three, 1GB is the best you'll get.

It's quite a lot in phone terms so don't worry.

Well I only plan on browsing the internets like forums and using twitter and FB.

Is that a fair usage policy and it unlimited browsing?
