Upto last week I was getting 9Mbs download speeds on my BB connection, then it went down to 1.6Mbs, spoke to engineer who said that the exchange is correct in new low speed and because of heavy traffic that I'd more or less have to put up with it, so as you can guess im not happy. Tested speeds at various times of day and still the same...shud I keep moaning at them or do I really have to put up with it..???

They've checked the line and said no faults and that the exchange is sending out 1.6Mbs, my mate who lives in next street is getting 14Mbs and he's with talk talk and used same speed checker. How do I check my line stats.

Not a happy chap sooo . I contacted them again, arranged engineer for a call back..he said same thing and that he cant find the problem so I asked to be put through to complaints, spoke to a whinge person who checked my stats again and there is a fault at the exchange, something to do with high voltage and there gonna fix it..apparently...

not sure how to post the stats from the router but
ADSL line speed(Kbps) up332 /down1441
Line attenuation(db) up 32.0 /down 42.5
Sn margin (db) up8.3 / down 9.1
Total errors 0

Can you connect the router to the BT test socket?

Internal checks, router to the test socket and retest speeds.
yer synching at 1.4meg so theres no way yer gonna get 9meg.
Altho if you've previoulsy had 9meg i aint got a clue how their "systems" haven't auto flagged a FTB.

I was getting 8.90 using ookla speed test, a friend of mine who lives on the next street is gettin near 15 .. they've admitted a fault on line and are gonna fix it...

Better to rule out your own internal networking being an issue instead of going with their conclusion.

Yup if they didn't move you to the test socket and recheck then they might try and kick up engineer charges if he changes a filter/socket and the fault is within your property.

Hi Tyketto,

I am with TalkTalk and am suffering similar problems althoughI can clearly hear noise, crackling intermittently on my line. I have had a BT engineer come out and check my line he heard the noise on it (this was after going through my own internal wiring).

I have been suffering really poor sync speeds especially upstream ? sometimes as low as 64 Kbps :( making my upload speed like dial up

I live in Hartlepool which isn't far from you.

I have sent a report into BT saying they haven't fix the problem but who knows when it'll get looked at again :(. Until then I have to reboot my modem until I do get a decent sync speed it's normally 3meg down 1meg up (I live quite far away from exchange ).

Has your problem been solved ?

im still waiting on it getting fixed, 24th is the date on the website that they acknowledged the fault and no date has been set to fix it...will post if/when I hear anything...

Eventually got it sorted after 2 more calls and chat on there website over last week..i got a txt today sayin an engineer would check my problem ..then an hour later got another txt saying it was fixed. My speeds are now 11.20Mbs download and 0.89Mbs upload, so its faster than previous...im happy now.. until sumthing else happens..lol
