TalkTalk Website Hit By Cyber-Attack

I watched a BBC news report this morning on an elderly woman who'd lost £8000 due to this breach. Sadly she got phoned by the hackers and she literally handed over the rest of her details so they had everything. According to the report they had the details since Sunday. So either TalkTalk kept quiet when the breach actually occured or this woman just gave them everything anyway. I still don't have any sympathy for anyone who takes a call and subsequently provides bank details to anyone on the phone. Elderly or not. Just shouldn't do it in this day and age.

I've been with TT for around 8 years on and off, only time i wasn't with them was when i moved into a property for a short period, Before TT i use AOL again another ISP everyone slated.

in all the years tho, I've never had problem, the service has been amazing infact, I've never needed to call them, and only used their website for help tuning the BB for gaming which went really well.

I've just used the code for Noodle that they have supplied, so will see what happens, but will more than likely stay for now, might see if i can get double speed though for the same deal.

Thing is, is noodle safe?

I did think this TBH.....and it's quite ironic that as I have potentially had my details stolen, I now need to post these same details, plus others, onto yet another site to hopefully keep on top of things :o

You're talking about people who grew up before electronic calculators existed, let alone what we normally call a computer and the for whom the entire concept of online banking only had the vaguest of analogues in occasionally writing to your bank if you were a rich person who did things like corresponded with your bank manager. Most of them will have no idea about the TalkTalk hack and if someone calls them up and already has a lot of information to help them pretend to be from TalkTalk, it's not hard to see how people get bamboozled into giving out some of the remainder information necessary to defraud them.

And banks/companies don't help. Phone you up asking for info. The banks are the worse for it.
They should give you a reference number, so you can go on website get the number and phone them back. It annoys the hell out of me. Banks are always security security security, but then expect you to break their own advice when they phone you.

.....and so it begins,

Just had a call from 08006121691 and I believe he said he was from Certified Digital, although a google suggests "Citified" unless that was a spelling error. He mentioned they were associated with NODDLE (coincidence I think not) ...I immediately started onto my "....registered with TPS" line, to which he replied he was aware they could not cold call.....but would I be interested in saving money on my broadband, to which I then hung up.

Whilst typing this, five minutes after the above call, I get one from 02086799232, which a quick google suggests is a silent call and this is what I got, although one post I saw suggested accident advice....I didn't speak at all and they hung up.

I do not, repeat DO NOT, get these type of calls at all......kinda funny I think that since the TT fiasco and me signing up to Noddle I have had two quick succession calls.

Gonna drive the wife mad today I bet....as I am going to work in a bit. :)

This is one of many reasons why I don't own a landline.

That, and the fact they are antiquated IMO.

I don't believe them when they say head and shoulders, I would like to see facts

Agreed but won't happen as it's pretty self defeating to publicise what security methods you employ :D.

If it was SQLi Im sincerly worried what the competitors are vunerable to. Admin/admin logins? :D
