Tan tells Mackay to resign or be sacked.

Did he really? Christ he really doesn't know anything

You just realised that about DM??

Do feel sorry for Malky, seems like a decent manager and bloke from what i have seen of him. If he does get sacked or resigns then its a shame, Cardiff will probably go down. Just hearing on SSN that they have 4 possible replacements in line.

Crazy stuff happening lately in football...

Imagine if Tan speaks to SSN saying he's about to sack him before he speaks to Mackay himself! :D

The BBC are now reporting that Tan is currently deciding whether to sack Mackay now or after the Liverpool game.

How many more things is he going to try to get Mackay to quit?

He doesn't want to sack him. I'm hoping 5 minutes before kick off he walks in and demands that Mackay picks him in goal.

Who will come in to replace him if he does go knowing how the owner acts?

I think Cardiff will go down if MM goes.

I agree :( the only winner here will be MM. If he is sacked he will get a payoff and will walk into another managerial role. We then have to find another manager and gel the team together again, not a good place to be hovering just above the relgation zone. December and january are tough months also. :(

That's not really him winning is it? He gets paid what he would have been paid anyway (OK, earlier than he would have) and he gets to watch the side he's got into the prem and playing well, at home at least, get torn apart/relegated, etc.

Mackay to WBA?

Makes me wonder who would want to take the Cardiff job after this though - obviously anyone coming in will ensure they get a decent length contract and wage, I wonder if he will go for a foreign manager.

5 mins before kick off he'll walk into the dressing room and tell him to clear off.

...and then manage the team himself. :p

I'm getting really sick of foreign owners wanting to change kit colours and club names etc.

The Bluebirds playing in red. :o

edit- Solskjaer is odds on favourite to take over at Cardiff atm....he is also favourite for WBA though. I think they are just desperately trying to get him a job tbh

If Cardiff's owner is as bad as he appears I wouldn't wish that on Solskjaer, he seems like a nice bloke.

Like a few others I'm struggling with the overspending idea - totting up what you have spent and what your potential liabilities are for future performance related payments is not rocket science. However here it doesn't even sound as if it's the add-ons that have caused the alleged overspend, it seems to be the upfront transfer costs which surely makes it even easier to track what your club is spending... Either way it's the sort of thing that should be sorted simply by being absolutely clear about what limits are put on transfers and what authority has been transferred.

If he's got any sense at all he won't resign, Tan showed his hand when he told him to resign or be sacked.

If he'd have just kept undermining him and having a go at him in the media maybe he'd have got fed up and quit but when the owners just turned round and said I'll sack you if you don't quit now then you know your pay-off is round the corner why would you leave voluntarily?!

I think that's what Tan is raging about, Mackay and that director obviously wangled it so they could get an extra 15/20 mil out of the budget. I dunno the full details but it doesn't hold much hope for trust in the future between the two.

I wonder what would happen if Malky Mackay resigned and then took Mr Tan to an employment tribunal for constructive dismissal. It could be an interesting case to see if it was even possible to do as a football manager.

I obviously don't know the full details but it's possible that he wasn't clear enough about his expectations or perhaps he's simply not telling the truth about the agreement reached (if there was one). If Messrs Mackay and Moody could somehow manage to overspend by over 40% on the budget then someone hasn't been doing their job very well as it's not an insignificant sum.

Santa used to wear green until Vincent Tan decided that red was luckier and would play better to the Asian Market.
