A timely thread

I always use tap water, however last night our water pressure dropped massively; when I turned the tap on it was like 3 taps were already running, when they were not.
Today it's back to normal but our water is very cloudy. Even with the taps and hose running for an hour hasn't cleared it up.

I'll be dropping by the supermarket later for some bottles of water.

:: EDIT ::
A quick Google shows I should be okay :)

What causes the water to appear milky or cloudy?

Sometimes water can appear milky or cloudy if it contains tiny bubbles of air. If water is run into a glass they disappear if left standing for a minute or so, clearing from the bottom upwards as the bubbles rise to the top.

Air can enter the water from the mains, or it can be drawn through a faulty plumbing fitting in the home such as a loose tap gland. The air is dissolved under pressure and released as millions of tiny bubbles when the tap is run. Sometimes you can cure the problem simply by tightening a tap gland nut. In all cases the air is totally harmless.

I drink bottled water here, as the municipal water tastes disgusting, and I don't have the space for a filtration unit (if I did, I would buy one of these). My employer has free and plentiful sparkling and still bottled water, and I have a number of Hydroflasks that I fill up when I am at work.

Good bottled water isn't particularly expensive in the USA, which is probably why most of my friends drink it. I can get 18.9 liters (5 US gallons) of bottled water for about £0.85 at my local gas station. With that said, I would like to get a Berkey as it only costs about 2 cents to filter a US gallon (3.8 liters) with a Berkey.

At home I drink from the tap, but at work I buy a bottle on Monday and refil the rest of the week from a filter machine. Prefer tap water myself, always seems fresher to me.

All i drink is water. Don't mind tap water if i have ran out of bottled water at work but i would pick bottled water over tap water.

No issue using tap water here tastes fine to me!

Only time I use bottled water is on holiday abroad if the local water supply is not suitable for drinking.

Chesterfield water aint great tasting. I prefer the Buxton bottled water over anything.

I always have people telling me "they all taste the same", no.... They really don't.

Ah I can understand that. Visited somewhere in Oxford once and the water tasted disgusting. If I lived where the tap water was as bad I would definitely invest in a Brita filter.

Yup, happened to us a few months back. Burst water main, so the water was cloudy filled with air but was drinkable. Severn Trent told us to just run some taps for a bit if we were uncomfortable to clear the air out, and as we aren't on a meter they suggested this. Otherwise they will refund the meter reading for the period you have to clear the air out for.
