What I hate about UK is 2 separate taps, one for hot and one for cold water. I prefer 1 tap so I can set the temperature I like and not burn my hands.

 Maybe in a bathroom/kitchen designed in the 1940's. Ive certainly never had separate taps like that in any of the houses ive lived in or owned!

I got a more bizarre shower/bath tap system, one tap controls (or should do, not that there seems to be any difference) the amount of water you get and another controls the temperature o_O...

But at normal taps, yeah hot left, cold right.

That is a thermostatic setup and is the best type...as it means that you never get a variation in water temperature regardless of flow or other conditions in the house.

Good in theory, but the flow is always constant regardless of the setting, so it is used as an on/off switch, and the temperature has three settings, bloody cold, bloody hot and just right.

Saying that it is better then 2 taps.
