Hi

Been thinking about getting a tattoo done in between my shoulder blades/base of neck and was wondering if anyone here has one and/or if you know of any dangers having it here??

No dangers at all based on placement.

Usual dangers apply if you have any medical conditions which may cause a concern; get your GP to give you the okay before you do it.

Find a good, reputable artist, ask them to explain how they work, what cleanliness precautions they take, how they prepare sterile fields and so on. Ask to see their spore test results for their autoclave.

Importantly - ask to see a wide-ranging portfolio of HEALED work.

And, most importantly, get something you are comfortable with for the rest of your life.

There is the danger of infection but this is really only a problem if you go to an unregistered backstreet cowboy who re-uses needles. If you go to a proper studio there shouldn't be any problems. If you're at all worried, just ask them to explain their hygiene precautions and they should be more than happy to tell you.

id Try and keep it below thhe neck, ive heard of more people regretting getting tats visable above the neck line of their clothes etc

it will hurt though... needles going into your body generaly do lol ( i know what you mean though, it will hurt more than usual being in the place it is)

are you a skinny guy or a bit bigger? tends to hurt 'boney' people more

i am just halfway through having 1 done, i would post a pic but i dont have any sites at hand to host a pic...

and yes it hurt's lol
but if you have had a tattoo before then is not much worse than your other 1

it's being coloured in this wednesday....

One of mine is between my shoulder blades. Hasn't caused me any problems at all. The only thing is that it hurt quite a bit when the needle went over the spine.

If it's anywhere near you neck it's gonna kill, the skin around the collarbone is so think that inking there just kills.

Don't sqeal :p

guy serving me at mc Donalds had a realy cool set of tats on his arms,
each side had a star that was filled inside with orange/blue and green/blue spiral
looked REALY good

that looks sweet. I was thinking of getting a smirnoff ice tatoo on my arm. Probably shouldn't have said that cos you guys will all nick my idea LOL.

That looks good woody, mines going to be centered though, at the part where there isnt much meat at the base of the neck, which is why i was worried since there isnt much flesh protecting the spine.
Lol, and yes, I'm pretty boney, I just hope I don't jump and ruin his work.

Anyway, The artist is a pretty good one, I've seen albums of cured work and my m8s brother had a large tattoo on his arm done there, looks really good, and he's going to go back soon to get more.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease about it though.

My backpiece was my most painful tattoo so far.. it really wasn't fun. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again though, it's by no means unbearable, just isn't fun.

I'm getting a sort of tribal bull (im a ox and a taurus) with some sanskrit writing of some cherished quotes in the horns. Its not going to dominate my back, most of it will be in the spinal region, with the horns just extending onto my shoulders.

I can handle a bit of pain, so I should be ok. Fingers Crossed.

Will post images of it when its done, more likely when it's cured though
