Tax in UK

Your saying train drivers drivers are paid well and most get 60k.

However your saying 100k is not a good salary?
That's is the right wage for train driver.
Other jobs have not kept up with wage increases for the last 23 years.
Average graduate wage 2000 was 23k it should be 40k these days going by inflation, you can clearly see the decoupling overtime from wage and inflation
100K is a good wage but not a spectacular wage, a spectacular wage would be 150k.
People are more productive and being paid less.

The best time end of 80s and the 90 for both wage and house purchases.

a really interesting read:

100K would be well above limits mentioned in the article
Those suggested rents are ridiculous. You can’t rent a reasonable 1 bedroom place in south Manchester for less than £950 pcm…

the rents in that are about a third of their true value.

Even including just rooms it's way out.

The cheapest studio in "Brighton" (actually in Saltdean, a few miles outside of Brighton) is £825 a month.

I assume that is per person as it states the take home pay too.

Not sure I agree with your assertion though. Seems like most 1 bedroom properties in South Manchester are still less than that. Also, most people are probably still on rental agreements with lower prices. I'm sure things will increase rapidly for everyone.

You just don't get them in Cornwall anymore. they just get setup as air bnb.

And our great government's answer to fiscal drag increasing workers tax burden is: scrap inheritance tax. Here's to the rich getting richer.

That's like me saying I'm considering becoming an astronaut. Might quite like the idea but it's never going to happen.

Promising to removing inheritance tax would almost certainly backfire. Shock as it's the Telegraph reporting.

I like your confidence. They are going to be getting increasingly desperate as the election looms, who knows what they'll come up with :(

Tax cuts most likely as if that'll solve anything. But they're ideologically obsessed with a low tax economy even though Truss tried it and look what happened there. Speaking of which I've had my tax letters arrive this morning I've not paid enough tax apparently so as well as mortgage rate rises and food inflation I've going to be stuffed for income tax as well. Lovely.
