Taxman sent me a letter...

I've only ever had letters saying I owe them money toward my state pension.

*shakes fist*

I got a cheque for £1500 from the taxman a couple of weeks ago. Add that to the £15,000 redundancy I got at the end of Jan, my bank balance looks quite nice :D. To top it all, I've had 3 job offers of which I've accepted 1 today :D!

Take it this is bar work or something? 3yrs on br would be a hell of a lot for most full time jobs.

Yes I only work 16 hours a week part time while still at Uni.

Already planning on paying my uni fees for my final year with this.

Most likely stick the rest in a savings account.

I was curious by this thread so rung the tax office to enquire - looks like I might owe them money :(

50k salary been taxed on BR (20%) with no personal allowance for 28 months...doh :(

Last time I rang the tax office was the first time...
They said they had incorrect info and couldn't validate me so wouldnt talk to me lol.

On top of that due to DPA they wouldn't tell me which info was incorrect so that I could rectify it >.>

wow dats a lot of cash :) quite jealous now! ^^ what the hell do you do for a job??

.... and inside was a cheque for £3500!!

Back in january the payroll department at work contacted me to say they thought my tax code was wrong. They gave me a form to fill in and sent it off. Turns out I had been on BR tax code for over 3 years since leaving my second job.

That will teach me to check my payslips more often!

Now the question is what shall I spend it on :D

Anyone else ever had a nice suprise from mr HMRC?
