Tekken 8 Official Thread

Wow. You think they over did the muscles on him a little? :p

Not a little, he looks like he's been through a couple of solid AAS cycles:p Guess they wanted to uhmm, flex the new skin textures:D

He should be way smaller and a bit less shreeded. On the plus side, I like that all the characters look more distinct now and have more personality (so far), in 7 everyone looked like the same model with a few differences here and there.

Not a big King fan but have to say he looks great in 8, I really like the new animations and the stage as well. The attacks in general feel much meatier and more impactful than in 7 so far.

Just hoping the gameplay won't be too ridiculous with the new systems, I still have a bad feeling about this:P

What the actual hell is going on with these trailers, Harada is nuts:P Xiaoyu looks great! Selectable time of day for stages also pretty much confirmed, and maybe weather conditions as well since it was snowing when the stage was showcased at night. Daytime Times Square looks crisp and detailed.

Well, at least she doesn't look 16 anymore, they did age her slightly:D

People have already played the alpha and there are quite a few detailed impressions on YT so they might ease up on the trailers but if not I'm hoping for Steve or Drag.

The general consensus is the game looks great in motion, the movement feels roughly the same as in 7 and the characters have been retooled significantly. Emphasised char individuality, which was kinda obvious from the trailers. Some concerns about the heat system which was also predictable:P

I don't know, to me it's a bit too flashy and heat might be a problem, we'll see.

Gameplay will be a HUGE change that might not be entirely welcome, that's for sure but from the technical and more casual side the game is shaping up nicely.

Chars now have special interactions depending on their relationship within the story, like Lars and Jin fistbumping etc., post-RA special outros and there's dust/dirt/mud buildup which can be seen in some of the below:

The models and animations look effin' great, wish this wasn't measly 1080P. Taken straight from the alpha build. There's quite a lot of normal gameplay footage but it's just 1080p as well.

EVO finals are live now and Bamco dropped two new trailers, Asuka Kazama and Leroy Smith.
My reservations about the gameplay are still there but I had thought I'd be disappointed with the visuals. I'm not, this looks really good and everyone who's played the alpha says that the trailers don't do it justice at all.
Also, the impact and sound of attacks is INSANE. A bit too much even.

Worse news is, this is still early alpha and they don't really have much beyond 10 chars and 5 stages so the game is ways off, it seems.

We might get some more stuff after the finals today.

The stages look very good. I am in no rush anyway. Rather they get it right then rush it. I am guessing it will be a 2024 release, probably same for Mortal Kombat 12.

I hope they get more out of the UE5 engine before release. That first trailer they released was so good.

Yeah, very slim chances for a 2023 release, unless they have more than they let on.

I'm not worried about visuals anymore, character models are great as well, Jun looks slightly off but that's it.

One of the more known Tekken content creators ,actually the least biased one, said that it's one of the cases when the actual game in motion exceeds what's been shown in the trailers and literally everyone who played the alpha has been raving on about how good it looks in person so I'm optimistic.

If this is indeed early alpha, then it might look even better on release.

So Bryan Fury trailer has been leaked but it was obvious he was going to be revealed since they seem to be revealing characters of specific nationalities after major regional tourneys so the next one is probably Marduk in June and then Steve in August.

The official upload will probably be a bit better quality but the upgrade in character models from 7 is insane and the game's still in alpha. I thought he would be wearing the skull face mask by default but I guess they wanted to show off the faces.

Closed Network Test announced, with a glimpse of the next char (why him, ugh...)

Registered for the PS5 CNT in case my GPU is not up to scratch, maybe I'm lucky and I'll see the game in motion.

Got selected for the CNT, received my key and can preload now:D

Good timing as I took a short break from SF6, only played yesterday evening and got into Gold ranks but some of the monkeys I had to fight on Silver 5 made it super unfun so I guess I'll go back after I've played T8 for as many hours as I can:p

I play on arcade stick so that at least makes it closer to the good ol' days:p

Have quite a few observations regarding the game but I'll leave them for after the CNT ends, have had two chances to play, as PS5 had an exclusive CNT last week, and got a few chars to the highest available rank.

The graphics look really impressive, I get why people were saying the trailers didn't do it justice.
Character models are fantastic overall and the char-specific interactions are a great touch.
Here's a compilation with better quality than the trailers, you can even see battle damage on chars but it still looks better in-game:
