Tekken 8 Official Thread

Kazuya trailer dropped out of the blue. Have to say the visuals look pretty damn good here considering this is a normal fight and the fact that Harada said the lighting is unfinished and the graphics will be tweaked further.
Questionable gameplay choices aside, still too much clutter for my taste but a decent trailer overall. Just please, change the announcer, I can't listen to this with a straight face.

Not for me, it reminds me of action films where they shake the camera about and do fast cuts to make it look more interesting. Just watching this trailer was starting to give me a headache. I did used to love the old tekken games, i remember learning all the combos and counters for all the characters and just destroying all my mates :D king was my favorite with his throw combos that could kill you in one combo.

It does look a bit better. But again not like what I was hoping for. Hope they improve before launch.

I think it'll look decently close to that reveal once they show that particular stage in those conditions. Lighting and lots of shiny surfaces go a long way, the models and animations are already miles better than 7.

I'm more concerned about gameplay and the new systems which look a bit too bonkers.
Graphics don't mean that much in a fighting game to me, especially that T8 still seems to be the best looking one around.

Also, regarding graphics, I think we've forgotten how old 7 is at this point:cry: 8 doesn't exactly look like the reveal trailer (hopefully will get tweaked as promised) but to think there are people who argue it's Tekken 7.5 visually...

Thery're really going at it, huh. Harada wasn't lying about rebuilding animations and everything from scratch, I wanted to analyse some stuff but I don't know what's happening on the screen for half the video:D Is this Jin or what?:D
On a positive note, the character models are pretty excellent and practically of the same quality as the reveal, the lighting on this stage is also way more complete than on the other one they showed. Looks pretty close to reveal actually, with the camera further back and way more colour. The reveal had a lot of rain particles, way darker lighting, close-up camera and lots of motion blur with some cinematic bits in-between. The animations were also different, they were completely changed as the screw state isn't in the game anymore, there's that new "flipover" thing. Wonder how it'll look when they show that stage from the story mode. Not 1:1 probably, but well, the game looks good, IMO.

That does look better. Yeah, I will probably buy it on release as long as they don't price it silly. £35 is fair imo.

These companies need to remember that there is no second hand market which they lose sales to and keep pricing under £40. As soon as I se £40 I get well put off. £30-£35 is fair considering they will be selling tons of season passes and other dlc tat.

Wondering about the release date and the base roster, seems we'll be getting character trailers every week or so, probably a couple more of those.

As you say, they'll probably release a bootload of season passes as usual and cash in on those. Ireckon the price of the base game will drop pretty fast.

Wow. You think they over did the muscles on him a little? :p

Not a little, he looks like he's been through a couple of solid AAS cycles:p Guess they wanted to uhmm, flex the new skin textures:D

He should be way smaller and a bit less shreeded. On the plus side, I like that all the characters look more distinct now and have more personality (so far), in 7 everyone looked like the same model with a few differences here and there.

Not a big King fan but have to say he looks great in 8, I really like the new animations and the stage as well. The attacks in general feel much meatier and more impactful than in 7 so far.

Just hoping the gameplay won't be too ridiculous with the new systems, I still have a bad feeling about this:P
