Televising Wimbledon Annoyances (and discussing the tournament itself)

Two great players, roger just seemed to lose it, the best two men in the tournament without a doubt, Murray would have got killed by Novak today
I think Murray would've done far better today. Federer was turd compared to his match against Murray. I also think that match took a lot out of Federer even though it was straight sets.

Edit: I think Federer might get beaten by his wife as well when they get home, does not look impressed!

Well done to Djokovic, he was the better player today. Federer played well in patches but he was nowhere near the level he was against Murray, partly that will be down to the opponent but despite his form in the earlier matches he seemed just a bit off his game.

Murray isn't as consistent as Federer.

You'd definitely have a case for that statement previously but over the past year or so after coming back from injury Murray seems to have really improved his consistency.

He still doesn't have the edge that he is missing. Plus it seems he has serious concentration/psychological problems because it almost comes across as infantile.

Oh my shoulder, oh my leg, my ankle and throwing tantrums towards the racket. Soon as anyone has a problem, Murray follows. Plus Murray rarely goes into games and finishes it! Murray drags out games and games that it infuriates people. Most times Murray has to be pinned on even keel before he gets out of it mostly.

Federer and Djokovic always goes in for the kill and be done with it.

+1

Yeah. Well, I'd love to know how Serena would fare against Murray, Federer or Djoko in at least a best of 3 set match.

Going back a few pages, but you may find yourself sorely disappointed...

Wikipedia said:
A fourth event dubbed a "Battle of the Sexes" took place during the 1998 Australian Open between Karsten Braasch and the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams, aged 17 and 16 respectively, had claimed that they could beat any male player ranked below 200, so Braasch, then ranked 203rd, challenged them both. The matches took place on court number 12 in Melbourne Park. Braasch first took on Serena and beat her 6–1. He then played Venus and won 6–2. Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance." He added that he had played like someone ranked 600th in order to keep the game "fun."

Linky.

I recall reading an article, which I can't find just now, saying that Braasch had a couple of beers before going on court and was smoking between games, as was his habit.
