Ive recently fitted a Thermalright ultra 120 and my idle temp on a E6300 stock is 33-35oC is this right? Seems a little high. Any advice/tips will be great. Its in a Lian-Li V1000, ive used AS5 aswell.

Edit: it's 43-45oC with 100% load set in TAT

Thanks in advance, Ben

U think that is high ?, my poor e6300 mainly idles at 40c with a zalman 9500AT, I aint happy with it, I should have damn bought a noctua or tuniq.
only when it was winter and my window full open and me shivering, did it go to down to 36c.

and this is all at stock !! using AS5

I would be happy with ure temps ure getting...

Nice! My 6600 is idling @ 48/46 under a scythe ninja with a 2000rpm evercool spider fan attatched!

Getting a Titan Amanda at the end of the week though so hopefully they'll drop a little! ;)

 Sounds a bit high, is that fan loud? Might have to see about getting a decent fan for mine:) When you get your Amanda youll have to post a thread before and after temps and some piccies ;)

Which program are you using to monitor temps?

Will do my man! Fingers crossed i see some improvement! Darn expensive those things! ;)

The fan isn't too bad but is definately best @ about 1700rpm!

Load temps get to 54 so not too bothered!

I'll keep you posted!

Here's a pic of the PC as it is now:

Nice setup! Didn't know you could have aftermarket coolers on a GX2, those look ace :)

Just noticed your case is the same as mine inside

It certainly is! Basically identical apart from mine has a door meaning i can't get to anything easily and you can have a windowed side panel!

The GX2 was a mission to cool and i was fortunate to discover this little layout. Stock cooler temps in the sandwiched section reached 80+ degrees C under load (only mildly overclocked) so i needed to do something.

I had seen the swiftech spacer kit for watercooling applications so bought a set from the states and fitted it! Temps dropped to 70+ degrees in that sandwiched section but i still wanted cooler but without H2O!

Measured the remaining gap and compared the mounting locations for the cooler and decided the Zalman would fit!

As it is the cooler runs at tickover (1600-1700rpm) and overclocked to 600/830 the temps never get past 55 degrees C!

It is a heavy solution though! Any more and i'm sure the PCI-E slot would give way! ;) Plus it was a little expensive!

Fitted a VF-900 on my 1800xt today aswell as the ulta 120 on the cpu, with the side fan blower attached temps are 41 idle and high 50s load :) plus its quiet too, look forward to hearing about your amanda when it arrives, keep me updated :)

I'll try not to disappoint then! It should get to me on Friday so fingers crossed you'll hear back on the Saturday! :)

Glad you like the VF900. I would have got two VF-900's but i didn't wanna risk them not cooling the overclocked G71 cores so went with pure RPM - on reflection they would have been more than enough as i run the fans on their slowest setting! In fact 900's are said to cool better as they're identical to mine minus the nickle plated finish! Oh well... live and learn! :p

I'll keep you posted on Titan progress!

EDIT: You got any pics of your rig?!

Not got any pics at the mo, ill try and get a pic sorted tho need to find camera :(

Do you know whats good for removing fingerprints, ive got tons on my v1000

Me too - but didn't show up too much in the pic.

I would say something alcohol based would do the trick. Don't think that would damage the metal as a lot of people use similar stuff on heatsinks and processors when cleaning thermal compound off them!

A lightly damp cloth may do quite a good job too but may streak a little!

Got some piccies, couldn't be botherhed to take the side fan out tho :(

Sorry its zoomed in i'd put my PC back under the desk then thought id take another so i had to crawl under, bit cramped :o

Any tips on cable management, mines so messy and yours is so neat!

Looking good Ben! :)

Cable wise all i could recommend is cable ties to bind some runs together. Also, if you have the time and patience to uplug some stuff you could possibly work out some new routes for certain cables that will hide them a little better. But tbh i think it looks very neat! Nice set up!

Mine's fairly tidy but as i don't have a modular pc i've had to bundle some of my cables below the PSU! Not very elegant but does the job i guess! :D
