I've been told the same. There is a difference when working on big files but other than this it ain't worth it. I saw a guy having raided 4 seagates. He claims he system is much faster....who knows

I use the Scythe Quiet Drive. It does cut down the noise quite a bit but not totally.

But is the difference really noticeable or just 2secs? If the difference is of major degree I would consider getting a 2nd raptor but again I would be better off selling the one I have which is like new and buy 2 or 4 250GB seagates .10 for a potentially unbeatable perfomance. I am really thinking seriously about doing this. My hd is what holds my system back now.
