Temu

I'm now pee'd off because I've just ordered 3 items:

1) I now have to have a £15 minimum, I didn't with the first 5 items I bought I just added £2 for postage.
2) It's Mar 14 today and delivery is Mar 26 when I'm in the IOW.

So why did your replies not address the actual point he's making then, just seems odd

I did and mentioned in post 42 what I did for 27 years so know all about those CE marks etc, I lived with them every day.
To be honest I don't give a toss, if my bass player wants to buy some Temu lights and he trusts them I'm happy.
Pointless debating it.

Would I put a load of Temu lights up in my house? - no.

You know there's different levels of quality right? Temu Chinese is going to be for the most part entirely different to high end gizmo with made in China parts
But even on Temu there are different products.

Sweeping statement saying all Temu stuff are crap is just as invalid saying all Chinese made products are crap.

That’s what some people are doing, the issue is they are too blind to realise what they are even saying.

I've bought a fair few bits off Temu. The quality has been spectacularly crap on every single item, but my expectations are exactly that - junk.

@RetiredGreyFox to answer your question, these items were in one of those stupid promotions, where you have to pick x amount ot stuff to get special prices / free shipping / whatever.

The light is quite bright and is just used as a torch for my wife's arts & crafts, the quality is hilariously crap. Junk.

The magnetic bits holder for working on cars and bikes and stuff isn't strong enough to stick to anything, let alone hold anything. Junk.

The foam mats I got for sitting on when working on stuff and fair play to Temu, one for each arse cheek means I don't have to sit on cold concrete and get wooden buttcheeks. Not junk, not amazing.

The bag is the highlight of the bunch, it's the only thing I actually use and admittedly isn't too bad. Quality's still crap, but for stashing stuff in the garage it works perfectly.

On to the socket set. To be clear, I knew exactly what I was getting myself in to but wanted to see just how bad it is. To say it exceeded my expectations would be a massive understatement:

Socket set was a scrambled mess when I opened it, because nothing fitted properly in the case.
Sockets missing.
Double sockets.
The ratchet didn't work, and you can see the directional lever in the pic is pointing the wrong way. It literally didn't work. At all.
The socket walls were so thin that even the tiniest bit of force would split them. That was irrelevant however as the tolerances in the sockets was probably measured in feet.
The overall quality of the metal(?) was brittle, porous and extremely light.

Honestly, words can't describe how crap this little socket set was.

I ordered some socks and a torch. Both went in the bin within 5 minutes of opening the wrapper.

Not everything will be crap, but you need to be aware of the potential of unsafe stuff. Most people aren't.

Same goes for stuff that isn't on Temu.

@Diddums posted a great example actually. The average person isn't going to know stuff about sockets and whatnot. If it works, they probably won't think too much about it.

On the whole a lot of the chinese electrical stuff is OK. It's those parts that look as if they were put in by an Indian you've got to watch out for

Here's a good example, you might not see it how I can but the Temu stand on the right cost £6.50 and to be honest I can't trust that gear to stay on it where the one on the left is from Amazon for £10 more and solid.
That stand will be placed at the right hand side of me on stage for access.
One of the things I've just ordered is a flat tray to go on that left stand for the ToneX guitar pedal.
I'll use the Temu stand for something else.

I've bought a wireless intervalometer on AliExpress and it was just about half the price of what it would have cost me on Amazon and works perfectly. Amazon is great if you need something quickly but I will always check to see if AliExpress sell the same thing if I'm not in a rush. Not all Chinese stuff is tatt! :)

Bought a good amount of Espresso gear off Temu, and various matts for my workdesk - all top quality at a good price. The only thing that annoys me is the migraine inducing website (not used it in a while, assume it hasn't changed) and the long delivery times depending on your purchased items.
