Tenerife

Costa Adeje is good. Much nicer and quieter than Los Cristianos and Las Americas. :)

We've been to Costa Aeje for the last few years staying in the Iberostar Gran Anthelia, we absolutely love it.
We sometimes pop down into PDLA and do the strip, doesn't bother me in the slightest if it's a bit rough round the edges, it's ideal for a drink and a boogie.

we stayed just literally 50metres up the road from there last year, providing its near a roundabout?

It was an OK area, I found it a bit lacking in bars, nice ones though, places to eat were ok, had no problems with 18-30 crew, didn't see any

In other news I'm flying to Fuerteventura at 4pm today :D:D:D (apologies for spelling mistakes, I feel there may be some)

Los Christianos is quite nice, and the zoo was okay last time I was there. Las Americas is full of fat drunken minks though :)

Very true - full of suntoasted fat english people in england football tops. Nearly as bad as the fat irish people in GAA tops. Both should be banned!

I'm heading off to Tenerife at the end of the month for a week. A relative owns an apartment in Playa de las Americas which I'll be using (Palm Beach apartments if anyone knows them?).

It wasn't my first choice of destination but a free apartment and a desperate need to get away to somewhere sunny for a week made it irresistible.

I have been to Gran Canaria before and I imagine Tenerife is going to be much of the same thing, i.e. loads of sunburnt fat English men drinking Stella and Carling in the usual tourist traps.

Apart from the usual drinking and shagging that goes on, what else is there to do? Is it possible to hire motorbikes/quads and go up the mountain? What about speedboats, jetskis etc? What sort of price would you expect for these?

What about the bars and whatnot? Where are the good spots for a bit of craic? I hate clubbing so that's out unless I get airlocked.

Basically, I'm a Tenerife virgin and would like to get some idea of what I can I can get up to before I go.

Thanks.

I went with my wife and her 2 sisters and 2 kids we hired a Zafira and went up to the top of the mountain great fun. Did the whole island in a day.

Beaches are great fun and all the watersports are covered. Some beautiful sights especially on the atlantic side driving along the coast :D

If you do get a car I recommend trying some spanish dishes. There's one like an omlette (forget it's name) but it was really yummy with tomato sauce.

But it's Tenerife and full of English and Germans there's simply no getting away from it.

Have fun,

J

Try out the Go kart track cant remember where is exactly but its a 10 minute cab ride from the PLDA, was good fun and also go to the aqua park but dont half a few beers and fall asleep, burnt feet aren't fun :(

Can't remember if you have purchased you new camera yet, but if so, get yourself a motorbike for a couple of days (crosser if it's possible) and get yourself off on some photo journeys and post back here with a picture diary on return.
(Also, post up some bikini shots from the beaches if possible :D)

Las americas is the best "Commercial" place iv been to. Iv been to other places like benidorm etc and i much much preferred playa las americas.

Also the diving is quite good there too!

Was in Costa Adeje (Riu Adeje) about 5 weeks ago. Lovely place, plenty of good restaurants and a very nice golf course (it's low season now out there for golf, so it's a lot cheaper to play/hire clubs). Main thing i found was that it's not the 'cheap' holiday destination it used to be (going back a few years now) and i also think it's dearer than Gran Canaria. Hiring sunbeds on the beach was expensive, €30 for 4 beds and brolley, Pint of Beer €3, average meal with drinks for two was about €40 etc etc. Yes, you could do it cheaper by going to the supermarket but that's not really the idea of going 'on holiday' for me.

Meh, maybe i'm just becoming a skinflint in my old age! :)

My trip to Tenerife was entertaining. Someone mention the Calidonian and Yardi's, my god. Yardi's is just full of drunk 20 something football hooling 'BRITS ABROADDDD !!!!' style attitudes going on. Very entertaining. Lots of cheap booze anyway.

I took a trip up the mountain, that was pretty awesome. Apart from that, not much else I can add to the discussion :o

Las Americas is the best resort on the island if you're young, I made the mistake of going to Santiago, about 1km from Los Gigantes on the premise that is was a lively resort, I was not happy to say the least when I went to the 'best' club in the area to find myself, my girlfriend and another girl we met to be the only people in there!
