Has Fery done a huge outburst yet while on centre court?

He's at the point of no return, has to break opponent, which might release some tension.

Agreed. With all due respect to Fery's previous opponents, Zverev is a step up in class and it showed. Let's not be disappointed though - semi-finals is a heck of an achievement and every indication we'll be seeing plenty of him in the future.
Not sure - hopefully we will, and he'll be a decent top 20-30 player.

I really struggle to look beyond the height, though. The last time there was a genuinely top player under 6ft was Hewitt, and that was pre-Federer who basically completely changed the sport.

Fery's trick is being great at picking the ball up on the baseline and not getting pushed too far back, which rushes opponents. Unfortunately, if you come up against real power (like Zverev showed today, or Sinner, or Alcaraz), you've basically got to be a miracle worker to survive. And even the less powerful better players will be more prepared for his tactics in future.

I'd love him to do well, but I struggle to see him breaking the top 10 consistently, if at all.

Is Jack Draper really tall too?

Zverev is just annoyingly too good.

He's really good. Also though, as was pointed out by one of the commentators, Fery's 5 foot 9 frame does seem to be quite a restriction, at least at this elite level. Taking nothing away from Zverev but his towering 6' 6" height, just like Sinner at 6' 3" and Djokovic at 6' 2" must clearly be an advantage.

Actually, Agassi won Wimbledon in 1992 and he's apparently 5 foot 11 inches.

Yes. Prior to Hewitt. I'm not sure what your point is?

I think about 6 ft 4.

Edit: Agassi is one of the more similar players to Fery, in many ways - both have great backhands, both relatively small, and both own the baseline rather than getting pushed back. But (a) Andre played in an era when players were generally smaller - even Sampras who was renowned as the big server was only 6 ft 1. (b) Relatedly, players just didn't have the power they do now - that was more than 20 years ago, racket tech and sports science has increased power hugely. Similarly, players get way more top spin now than ever before given the strings and the slower courts - Fery will be dealing with balls jumping off the baseline at his chin on other surfaces. (c) Agassi was basically a freak - I don't think, probably with the exception of Roger, that there's ever been a more naturally talented player.

I'm not saying Fery can't also do that, but he's giving 3 inches away to Agassi, in an era where height, spin and power matters more than ever, and he's going to have to be absurdly talented to get far. At his height, he can't merely be very good.

It's a bit of a sad thought to think that Fery will likely never win in this era where height and power matter most but aftee your explanation I do understand why now.

Even Zverevs hands were almost half the size of the tennis racket!!

It just shows the lack of depth in men’s tennis that he can still get to this stage at a canter. Gap is pretty big between Sinner (and Carlos) to everyone else.

We really need to get Carlos back. There was a legit chance of the slam happening if he didn’t choke in Paris.
