Hi guys, I work for a local authority and often have to remote into schools, it appears that a temp we had working with us would log in and when done simply click on the ‘x’ and not log off, which is a big ‘no no’

My boss has asked me to visit the school to clear this as we can no longer log on due to there being no terminal service licenses left. I need to do this otherwise the school will have to pay there IT support for something they did not do, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this matter? It’s a windows 2003 server if that helps.

Thanks Jim

Can't you clear old/redundant connections through Terminal Services Manager..?

yeah i guess that's how you do it, but just wondering how you go about doing it?

:D small world mate! yeah i have been on these forums since 2002 after what they called the 'big nuke' when everyone had there post counts wiped and had to reregister, i quit for a while and moved on when it got a bit crappy a few years back, but then rejoined year or so ago.

Small world indeed.

As for your problem, do you know if it's a problem with concurrent TS connections or avaliable licences avaliable but the TS licencing server?

Well I know if I try and log on to the school as an administrator, it comes up with something like 'not enough terminal services licences, please close open sessions' I think you get 6 or something? This temp we had was working with this school a lot and we think it was her, so I want to visit the school and resolve it if possible with no charge to the school.

I should be able to sort it, but wanted some info if possible.

I think it's a concurrent connections problem, in which case you just restart the server to kill active connections.

Your not trying to log onto one of my servers are you? :p
