Terminator Reboot

Absolutely. Unfortunately look at everything else that gets done these days. It wont be done right, and that's about the only thing we could guarantee.
I agree. Unfortunately I can't think of examples of reboots that have been as successful as the originals. I'm sure there are some, I just can't think of any right now.

I can think of a few that are more faithful to the source material, however not actually any better. Total Recall for one.

Its not rocket science, the future war is what people want to see, not a "Salvation" version of it either which had 1 t600 in a 50 mile radius and nothing but empty space everywhere.

There's a lot of potential to have a movie in the future war setting, for some reason they've been reluctant to try it and try to play it safe (and fail) with a T2 clone for the most part.

There's a game on Steam/Xbox/PS, called Terminator: Resistance which is exactly what most people want to see and, as it was made by a team with deep love for the lore, its absolutely fantastic to a Terminator fan.

Its biggest stumbling block is the small budget the team had (understandably) which forced reliance on using an older game engine. This makes the game look lower quality graphically which puts quite a few people off initially (reviewers etc) but when you read the player reviews it's all positive about the "Look/Feel" of the Terminator world, even if the graphics are only so/so and the gameplay mechanics borrow heavily from other RPG's so can feel a little samey if you've played a lot of them.

I've never watched anything other than the films, and all the films i've liked, T3 was the worst imo, and yet to see the newest. A reboot i'm fine with, it can only really go two ways, really bad or enjoyable enough. Up to them if they wanna spend the cash, rarely in life media seems to remain where it was.

Always better off just doing something new though, even if it does feel like it's taken ideas from elsewhere.

As with all new films, i'll wait until prices drop from their initial release.

The Terminator is a classic and like Predator it's a horror film at its core. Dripping with atmosphere to the point that Arnie flicking through a telephone book looks interesting.

The horror element was lost in the sequels and the casting of the original can't be matched. Add the fact the sci-fi element of machines taking over is almost reality now and it's difficult to see another successful Terminator film.

i really like Salvation, i think it cries out for an extended/director's cut. some of the stuff like the mysterious third mototerminator need explaining.

Everybody looks at the film wrong anyway, they look at the Terminator as the bad guy, but all he's doing is trying to save his species from genocide, he's the machines hero up against the odds

Plus they're only killing Humans and not all living creatures so, once the Humans were gone the planet could heal itself again and the wilderness/nature could take back control of the planet.

It was always an interesting side-thought I had about the franchise - say Skynet fully won and every single last human was gone................then what? Do all the terminators and HK's etc shut down, do they wander the planet directionless until their nuclear power cells run out, do the terminators go robot-crazy with nothing to do for decades/centuries, do they just freeze in place until their power cells run out, how do they react with animals like bears/wolves etc do they see them as a threat etc etc........................so many late night drunken questions!
