TERMINATOR ZERO

Like the cast, Like anime, Love Terminator - I hope this is good!
:)

It wasn't :(

Watched it, thought it was god awful, purged it from my mind - 2/10 with the only plus points being the animation and Japanese VO.

I watch a few episodes in English and a few in Japanese just to see the difference in tone/nuance etc and the Japanese voice casting was far, far better than the English version (filled with decent Hollywood actors too), the animation was fine but, for me, it was the story which was just illogical, badly paced, poorly written guff, almost "fan-fiction" levels of bad!

The only episode which I though had a little bit of intellect was the last 10 minutes of the last episode where the origins of this particular Terminator and who programmed it comes into the open but this was telegraphed much earlier I thought.

EDIT - Clarified the 2/10 score.

I'm about half way through this, it's pretty good imo.

Not a masterpiece, but it offers an interesting take on the source material and has good atmosphere and audio effects, it's visually appealing too with a healthy amount of gore while not going entirely over the top.

If nothing else it's better than the last couple of movies.

I'd give it a 5-6/10 so far, obviously that could change by the time I'm done.

Ones I recommend from Netflix

Castlevania
Baki the Grappler
Record of Ragnarok
Cyberpunk Edgerunners.

Netflix is really into tournament combat related material tbh.

I enjoy stuff like Baki, Kengan Ashura, Record of Ragnarok etc but I think it's a bit marmite for many. It's definitely a case of being able to switch your brain off and enjoying the spectacle imo.

Blue Eyed Samurai is also on Netflix, excellent anime IMHO, great action sequences - although some unnecessary nudity that adds nothing to the story IMO.

The series was ok, bit of strange ending and for me the Terminator vibe didnt translate well into the anime. It was good and enjoyed it but imo got a little bog down by deviating slightly away from the main arc of the original story.

I love them as well.. They are great fun! i was a little disappointed by Baki Vs Kengen Ashura but it still didnt stop me watching it.

Netflix Ultraman is also pretty good. I would love them to do a Netflix Revamp of Gantz. I loved the anime and i loved the CG movie. they could really expand on that..

However there has been quite a few misses that i started to watch and found them a bit tedious and never went back to.

Totally agree Baki Vs Kengan Ashura was really disappointing. It was pointless and just shoe horned together without any story or purpose.

Yeah, the crossbow with infinite ammo cheat.
I enjoyed it well enough, despite nitpicks. Thought the robots including the cat were far too ahead of their time for '97, but maybe I missed an explanation for those.

Isnt a big part is how timelines actually might work? The father travelled further far back in time and may have advanced things along?

From what I remember, the only ahead of it's time thing he had anything to do with was the AI he developed, and that was sealed off from everything.
