Well im watching a news conference on BBC NEWS 24 in the USA with the Dept of Homeland Security and he said it could be al Qaeda, not just in the UK world wide.

The US label everything Al Qaeda, I'd rather listem to a British spokesmen for a more balanced view.

Zip, TBH I understand where you are coming from but you just cannot disregard the processes of the legal system. To do that is extremely dangerous as many others have pointed out.

I would love to be able to trust the police to be judge jury and executioner so that true justice could be handed out to those that deserved it, however such a perfect breed do not exist and the police/security services are all human and therefore as prone to mistake as anyone else.

I have faith (note, not cold hard fact) that there is genuine good reason for todays disruption to peoples flights and transport, but it is merely a safety measure as they themselves do not know if they have made a mistake by not getting all the suspects.

There are no absolutes when it comes to dealing with people and using cold written laws. Both the people and the laws are open to interpretation by their nature, an action seen to be done by a person can be open to interpretation as much as any written word, if not more so. If im found next to a bomb in a bag, did I place it there? A hair of mine fell out onto the bag, is that forensic evidence that I was in possession of the bag or did I merely use a hair brush in the vicinity.

This is why trial and evdence need to be presented and a clear process is needed. The punishment is something that would need to be decided external to that.

Well thats what i heard on this conferance im watching, he said its the use of tactics, which are simlar to the tactics al Qaeda use.

They might have had surrport from al Qaeda.

Whenever I here of these terrorists and planes etc.. it always reminds me of that Mr Bean sketch where hes in the airport and pretends to have a gun, doing on purpose the motion of pulling it out and blatently looking at the security/police and putting it back in.

I think I understand - Your notion of support is in fact blind faith that what you are being told by the government and security services is the truth.

If there have been so many foiled attacks, why is there no supporting evidence (today's events notwithstanding, as it is too early, the event if 7/7 notwithstanding, as there is limited capacity for falsehoods when there is a real event).

What actually happens to all of the perpetrators of these foiled attacks - Where are they now?

I'm not convinced that you have any degree of understanding as to how our constitution (and that of Aus, which has many parallels) works.

Like others have said. Not just me.
There would have Been cases where they stopped attacks but did not release detail of them for security reasons and to not panic the public or because they still had some others that they were after but didnt want to alert.
The government does many things we dont know about

Perhaps if these 21 arrested are found by jury to have been planning to blow up planes in mid air we should grant them part of their plan by sitting them all down and detonating a bomb under them.

Save on jail space and public cash.
