You assume that there is any value in being subjectively 'better' than them, I think Zip's mentality is more utilitarian.

Also, society has a tendency to regonise those who fight in their favour.

And with the security alert focusing on liquids, mothers were told that they would be required to taste baby milk before it would be allowed on to a flight.

If you was at the airport now and you went through this whole ordeal with young children and then they say it was Muslims and you lived nextdoor to one of them or the same area.

Apparently the plotters are British men

They probably won't regard themselves as British though. Being born in this country shouldn't neccessarily mean you're British. If my English mother and father lived in Australia when they had me, would that make me an Aussie?

In 1995 the European Court of Justice ruled that the British government had sanctioned excess force and breached the European Convention on Human Rights. However, it also ruled that the three had been engaged in an act of terrorism, and consequently dismissed unanimously the applicants’ claims for damages, for costs and expenses incurred in the Gibraltar Inquest and the remainder of the claims for just satisfaction.

I don't get what you're trying to say back to me. It was well known at the time that they were an active cell and in the process of preparing a possible bomb. Still doesn't justify shooting them dead when it was just as safe to arrest them and put them on trial as the laws of our land dictate.

I quoted Zip originally who was saying when caught red handed they should be executed out of hand and gave it as evidence of how much more trouble that creates. If your trying to say Europen Court of Human rights somehow justified the actions of the Government you're very wrong, all they said was that the families of the killed IRA members had no right to sue for damages.

another great comment-

Being british born does not make you british, (english, irish, scots or welsh ) these are the true brits,a kitten born in a dog kennel is still a cat not a dog,and any alien born in this country who does not like our society should clear off,our country is better, thats why their parents came here and left their failed nations.Muslims seem to want it both ways, they come to lead a better life, but want to keep all their beliefs and forget that its these beliefs that made their homeland unacceptable in the first place, our nation is better because we removed all the religious crap from our society centuries ago.people who have religious beliefs should not think they can impose them on others (this goes for all religions),this country chucked the pope out years ago because he told the spanish to enforce the catholic faith on us.Time to get on with your life and stop thinking theres some great guy up there with a plan,if there was he would have sorted it a long time ago, anyway he might be she,and they have probably given up on us unruly teenagers.

nope but you are advocating the killing of people based on suspicion, innuendo, hearsay, incomplete evidence. The only difference between you and them is a degree of scale.

Channel tunnel train on heightened state of alert

BRUSSELS, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Eurostar, the train service linking London with Brussels and Paris via a tunnel under the Channel, has been put on a heightened security alert, Belgian police said on Thursday.

British authorities said earlier on Thursday they had foiled a plot to blow up several planes in mid-air over the Atlantic.

"Extra security checks are now in place and we are carrying out more thorough searches, four checks in total, so there may be delays," a spokesman for Belgian federal police said.

"This is being coordinated with police in London and Paris."

P.S. Welcome to my blocklist, Zip

Market makers are going to have a field day - everyone loves a bit of volatility.

However, there were indications of a sell-off yesterday - today's events are just a catalyst.

As far as damage goes - those holding positions (propietary traders, funds, pensions etc.) are all sitting tight, and the sentiment is that it will all blow over in a heartbeat.

Thank god the terrorists wernt that smart and used this scenario as a classic plan B with all the thousands of people stuck in the terminals....
