Terror Plot Foiled

Hmm - no liquid to be brought onto 'planes.

What I am about to say will give GCHQ conniptions.

What if a number of individuals, via the use of a catheters & what-not, we able to carry the relevant liquids internally?

Detonation would literally be a piece of ****.

Uh-oh, spaghettios.

So does this mean that liquids are going to be banned from planes permanently from now on, or is this just a temporary measure.

I would have thought temprory untill there invistigation on this plot has been finished. Allthough, if they where planning to use liquid explosive. I would assume they would change there aecurity checks.

Not as ridiculous as it sounds.

A bit of an eye opener for me on the news at 1.00pm , was a gentleman from " Flight International " saying that the current metal detector doors we walk through do not see below clothing, because it's an infringement of privacy.

I forget the exact phrasing , but they cannot detect anything in a " human cavity ".

This seems an ideal place for concealment .

Didn't they say that was rent from another property they or their family owned?

They said something similar but there's no rent book and no evidence to suggest that the cash came in that way. In effect they have no method of explaining with evidence as to why 30k was lying around the house.

It doesnt matter.

Obviously 'having cash' = you're a dirty terrorist scummer who should be killed, just to be on the safe side.

On its own it might mean nothing, yet added to all the other factors such as the allegation that one of the brothers was creating child abuse pictures it might mean something significant.
Yout flippant sarcasm only makes you seem idiotic when it is nothing more than a lame attempt to gloss over anything that doesn't fit your world view.

Would 30k from child pornography make them dirty scummers who should be killed?

Forest Gate, why won't you accept that police act on informantion that is not clear cut. We do not want another innocent man being shot by police.

They aren't looking quite so innocent now. Furthermore just because they weren't caught doesn't mean that they weren't involved - possibly in this event, possibly they are the informants leading up to this. We don't know, we'll never know.

I don't have a criminal record or any points on my driving licence. Does that mean that I have never assaulted anyone or broken the highway code?

Shoot to kill Policy, Gibralter, 6 March 1988 is all I can say to that. The IRA Cell should have been put on trial not executed out of hand, it ended up causing more trouble than it solved.

If you want to know more do a google for 'Operation Flavius'

No they shouldn't. The security services had lost track of the car bomb, the terrorists were in Gib, attempting to arrest them might have given them time to detonate the bomb.

I lived in Gib from about 84 to 89. I'd far rather 3 known IRA terrorists planning to blow up a car that would have killed and maimed people I knew were shot dead than given a chance to detonate it.

Haha, catching up with the thread VIRII? :D

Yes. Just got back from the hospital. My wife rang me at about 11:15 with severe pains, she's due to give birth in 5 days and we thought this was it. Sadly no baby yet.

Sorry haven't read the rest of this thread, and I usually steer well away from GD to avoid getting sucked in, but the events of today have made me so ****ing mad I just had to post.

I'm of Indian origin, my parents are mildly Hindu (occasionally go to the temple for festivals and stuff that's about it). My parents came over here in the 70's, my dad was actually invited over by the Royal College of Physicians or something because he's such a damn good Doctor. He's worked his arse off every day of his life here, paid all his taxes, undertook all his duties as a citizen of the UK etc. etc. and is generally a nice guy.

I myself am an aetheist and consider myself to be British through and through, was born in Aberdeen and spent all my life living here (and if you don't agree that brown can be British you can sod off). I consider myself to be very well integrated into general British society; the majority of my friends are white, but I am open to all different cultures and practices as long as they don't impinge on the rights and freedoms of others (gays, nudists, religious people, trannies, whatever floats your boat, i don't care).

I find it both extremely infuriating and distressing that a small minority of bloody idiotic asians born and bred in THIS COUNTRY can ruin this damn good society that we have all built. What they're planning on doing is blatantly psychotic and murderous, and they now increase already existing racial tensions in our country. I find it so damn frustrating that because of morons like these, an increased stigma is now attached to me, just because I have the same colour skin.

Don't get me wrong here, I strongly believe racial profiling is a NECESSITY to combat this terrorist cancer (the most apt word to describe it imo), but I am infuriated by the fact that this net includes me, and no doubt thousands of other British Asians that feel the same way. All of the arrests were of ISLAMIC individuals, from urban LOWER-MIDDLE class communities. I don't fall into either of those categories! Yet because of being brown, many people, either through ignorance or fear will now look at me standing in an airport with a rucksack and think "Does he have a bomb in there, omg I'm scared". How annoying

Sorry I'm so mad now I can't come up with coherent sentences any more, but just had to get that out of my system!
