Zico said:I'm going to get this but I'm going to hold off the pre-order and see if it comes out as regionfree (if so then this will be my first to by from Play-Asia).
DanTheMan said:So when's this out? Read all the thread but didn't see a date.
SiD the Turtle said:Hmm what I worry about is that I read you can only 'see' 16 other drivers at once. So if we were all crusing about you'd have no one else to scare
But why don't you create or join a club? When you create a club, you'll have to first to buy a clubhouse on the island. Then, you give it a name and description... and you're ready to receive candidates, up to 16 members, with a president. Once you belong to a club, you'll be able to act like a true club member: hang around with your pals at the clubhouse (and show off with your latest clothes). You can jump directly into one of the dedicated Club challenges; race with fellow club members to outrank them in your intra-club ranking. Go after other clubs and challenge them to make it to the top of the inter-club rankings and competitions.
Many things to do. Many ways to drive. Or to race. Just drive for the sake of it to meet new people. Or gather directly with your friends for some cool races. Or jump directly into ranked competitions... We really wanted to give an unprecedented level of freedom to recreate all the pleasures you may have when you drive - either socially, or competitive, in group or solitary, of sheer speed or cool ride (did you try the Camaro?).
Test Drive Unlimited is scheduled to release in September 2006 for Xbox 360 and October 2006 for PC, PS2, and PSP.

Full code is very enjoyable with very minimal slowdown or pop-up. Looks special in high definition, and it’s polished and has stopped crashing on the delivery missions.
The game is a dream come true for petrolheads.
The clubs sound amazing (cannot be tested yet because the online function is not live), but you will be able to set up clubs for like-minded players, organise events, and even earn money from the clubs when you are not there.

Cars sounded superb (particularly XJ220, Pontiac GTO and Murcielago). Especially with the windows down. Great induction noise, exhaust overrun and full bore acceleration.

Yes, yes yes! There is such much to explore. You can try the challenges, try custom races, errands, go house hunting, sight-seeing, visit the locations of Lost, repaint your cars, or just go joyriding.

Yes you can turn on or off the displays, including GPS, speedo, racer names, and you can even set the amount of blur on the camera.
I’ve played it for 30 hours and I’ve never seen darkness (boo!)
The time and conditions change gradually as you play.
No weather effects though – come on Eden get it in there! Or are you waiting to add that as a mission pack?

1. A lot
2. Yes, in fact still fun after 30 hours+
3. No idea, I’m on Xbox 360 only at present
4. Starts off very easy in my opinion, but gets harder. Difficulty level on some missions is still being worked on
5. Excellent. Stunning engine noise, good atmospheric effects, and you can stream in music while you race (you might even be able to connect an iPod so I’ve heard)
6. No, I don’t think there is night, even though you can use your headlights. I have only seen dawn, day and dusk, with a sort of dark thundery sky. Keep thinking it will get dark, but then it switches to dawn at a convenient moment.

Actually the best sounding one is the DB7 Zagato (last special edition of the DB7 before the DB9 came out). Vanquish is pretty good too. DB9 and V8 Vantage are both a bit disappointing if I am honest. No real sparkle, bit too refined, not fast in the context of the game.
DB9 sounds okay, but muted, not as good as the Vanquish

Yes there is a Chevy Camaro in the game, and you can trick it up and add loads of extra horsepower

The version of the game I have is later than the one played in Atari UK and there is another one on the way to me now which is the absolute latest (thanks Lee). I have so far played 2 versions, with the third on the way. We have been incredibly enthusiastic about the game throughout the preview stage and so I think we have probably seen/played it more than the majority of magazines in the UK. I do not think any other journalists are even close to the 3,000+ miles I have put in.
I would say it took me 12-14 hours to reach Pro/Expert level, but that does include an awful lot of ambling round the island in a Lamborghini Muira listening to Sinatra. In that time I managed 32 gold trophies, bought 3 houses, and amassed 10-12 cars. I have 3 hitchiker missions complete, 2 car delivery missions complete (the others crash at the moment). I am on about 30 hours at present.

I downloaded the demo last night. How old is this demo? I drove the Lambo and the handling seemed somewhat strange.
Anyone else find it weird?
