So, that was it then? I like the game but the net code is atrocious. That and they have put back the release date to the 2nd March apparently.

The net code isn't as good as LFS (which is renowned for having the best racing sim net code around) but its okish - hope they improve it before release.

Ive read a few different release dates on a few different web sites. Ill wait and see.

So just keep putting the clock back to play then!!! :D
Anyone confirm that works? Not had a chance to play it all week as way away due to work  - hoping I get a good chance to this week as Ive pre-ordered it!!!

What are peoples final impressions then? Worth buying? Im hoping this basically is my only non-sim racing game for the future...

Yes, I definitely will be buying it. I wish they had the net code and steering responsiveness/smoothness from LFS though. I have been exclusively playing this since the open beta became available, so I suppose that is an indication of whether or not I like it. :)

Anyone got a confirmed (official) release date?

could be three dates:

13th Feb *original date, unlikely now.
3rd March *most likely (most online stores are claiming this date)
20th March *heard rumours of this date, and US EB state this date.

Typical ATARI give no information regarding solid dates.

One thing I can guarantee, the majority of problems associated with the open beta will not be sorted until subsequent patches.

I feel the purpose of the beta was purely to test the performance of the server(s). I would hope that because of this the disappearing friends/online players will be sorted.

Ive seen the 23rd Feb with the online seller Ive pre-ordered mine from...

Hopefully the servers are sorted and the bloomin control system, forever had keys getting re-mapped for no reason and it recognising my joypad as a keyboard

You can still load it but of course the servers are not online and it hangs trying to connect.
I guess it might be possible to try a single player only profile, I did create one I think.

I thought it was a good game but not enough to make me buy it. Not enough mission type gameplay in single player and only the free ride part of multiplayer really worked out for me. Instant challenge racing worked too but its not enough really considering the physics were fairly simplistic.
I never got the GT to drive on the mountain roads properly, all those bumps made it leave the ground or loose traction at 50mph and it should be better then that.

Hopefully they'll build on it, its a very good effort

It works if you roll back the time and date on your pc and there are quite a lot of players online. Only problem is I don't know if Atari are going to catch on to this and shutdown the servers as a result.

Doesn't work for me. The message that previously said "Warning! This liscene has 1 day left" etc now says, "Your system date settings are wrong" and there doesn't seem to be a way around it.

:)

Shouldnt be anyone online  Where is it still sunday..

Oh yea, it does work. I swear it just hung earlier

Looks like the developers are relying on the client stopping anyone using the game rather than switching off the server.

Im sure they will soon. I just overtook haribo during a informal race, him on his kawasaki ninja doing 209 in a city street :D My Ford Gt does 213 and still climbing, still the best sounding car Ive tried I reckon

1000 miles achievement and 5 challenges too. I never got those multiplayer race things to work though, only once did I get any players to list on it.

There was a load of people free riding, not much point clocking up cash at this point, convey of 6 along the long west coast roads
