Texas synagogue siege: Teens held in UK as Briton named as hostage-taker

You're talking about the UK and not the US where they pay $700 billion in tobacco revenues and US$250 billion in tax revenues in the US.

Only because they keep raising the tax rates on them. 1980 631 billion cigarettes smoked. 2015 267 billion smoked yet revenue remain around the same. Pretty sure there aren't anywhere near as many people being employed in cigarette industry today as in 1980

And my daughter has told me that my gun that's in a Pasco gun range.
Has still killed no one.

Well if all guns were locked up at gun ranges then the problem would be solved wouldn't it. Its good to know your daughter is a responsible gun owner, maybe she got her brains from her mother ;)

He was making an anti American statement/protest/death wish.

No one posted the WHY?

Oh teens released. No we didn't know Dad was going off on one.

Hahaha! Yeh sure, he could definitely be described as "perfectly sane"
Same with the 911 highjackers. They were well educated for the most part, some to PhD level I believe. This is separate to religious belief which is what drove them and this event in Texas. This is the outcome of firmly held beliefs and its a mistake to simply write them off as insane.

Surely it can be argued that extreme religious belief is a form of insanity.

The issue is how you define "extreme".

Mutilation of children's genitalia sounds pretty extreme, for instance.

I would define extreme when you feel your religion either allows or compels you to kill others in its name.

I've never been able to get my head around religion. It makes zero sense to me, the idea of some supreme being does seem insane, let alone some of the things he or his chosen prophets have done. Flying horses, talking burning bushes, walking on water etc etc. JUst because millions believe something completely unbelievable doesn't make it any less nuts.

So, that rules out the aztecs then.

I agree, if you think your religion justifies killing people, especially innocent people, then they are an extremist.

Unless he had diagnosed mental health problems previously then someone can be sane and an extremist.

You missed the point by a country mile.

The gun did not kill anyone because it was in the hands of a law abiding person and not some scum.
