A group of us were discussing this the other day, what you're supposed to put and how you're supposed to respond to them. Quite funny listening to some peoples ideas and even more funny watching all the phones come out and people checking their messages...

Anyway personally I was in the camp of a few x's to a girlfriend/spouse and that's it, none to others. Apparently however I'm doing it all wrong and if you like (ie want to sleep with them;)) someone you're supposed to stick one or two in and then see how they reply, watching the escalation apparently.

So should you reply with the same number of kisses as the person sends unless you want to escalate it or is it a standard amount?:p


This partly stemmed from texting someone and putting a couple of xx's at the end, they text me back with two*... This isn't however a "do they like me" thread but something that made me think, why did they reply with two, because they counted the x's and replied with the same, subconcious, or something else?:p

*They normally don't send x's
 
I've even seen mates/friends do this to one another (same sex) when there's no romantic involvement, probably out of habit! Find it a bit weird, mine are reserved for the gf only as a sign of affection through what is otherwise a very impersonal form of communication.
 
Meh, I send my best mates texts sometimes with a 'x' at the end. Don't even think about it - just a natural thing because I text my other half so much.

Obviously I'm in the closet.
 
The girlfriend gets 4 and i get 4 back, if I dont get 4 x's then im in trouble!!

Send one to a couple of college mates, only cause i get one though, gotta share the love!

If I message a girl first (unless I know she usually adds one) - None
If a girl messages me with none - None
If a girl messages me with one or more - One
Girlfriend - One or more, depends how much I feel like mashing the X button
Male friends - None, but sometimes one by accident
 
Same as Danm54. Me and my gf seem to give 4 each, if its less than 4 im in trouble, if its more than 4 ive done something good.

With mates boy or girl they only get a single kiss if im in a good mood hah.
 
No 'x's on texts to blokes. To lasses it depends. My missus would probably complain if I started putting them on texts to new female friends. Ones that I've known since before I met her I get away with; looking back the number used varies (both sent and received), but with no decernable pattern. Pretty much however many we felt like at the time.
