Which do you prefer if you can't max a game with playable fps ? Do you have 4xAA and lower graphic settings or just play with high settings and no AA ?

Always go with textures and x16 anisotropic filtering first, then AA later. If aa is too expensive go with AMD's MLAA (via CCC) or use in game FXAA. (if applicable)

I always drop AA before anything else. Least with AA you can force less demanding for of it like smaa.
With texture you removing a lot of the games look and can make it look ugly before removing AA.

Textures & a shader (post) based AA (MLAA/FXAA/TXAA etc). Does the job well enough in place of MSAA and generally looks better due to the higher resolution textures.

I should say that I am only talking about where the higher texture quality level actually gives a noticable difference (I am looking at you every game where "Ultra" textures look no ****** different to "High" textures).

Better textures over most settings, they're a high priority. The last and least import settings i apply are as follows:

Higher priority
-AA (2x or 4x)
-HBAO/HDAO/SSAO
-PhysX
-Post AA
-Bloom/HDR
Lower Priority

It is not rocket science, you can just try it yourself and choose the one that has good enough FPS and looks the best for you. It might even change with different games. I am very annoyed by the sharp edges of a picture without AA so would opt for some AA even if I will have to lower the other settings. Usually shadows and effects are quite demanding, so lower them first. Textures and AA are left for the last.

Ha calm down I never said it was rocket science :) .. I opt for textures over AA .. Especially in competitive mp , was just wondering what other people do :)

Textures but I think it may be down to habit of old as Switching AA off was the first thing you did.

Textures > AA

Res > Textures > AA

1440p+ is the way to go. Looks a lot better than <1440 with no AA. I would even take lower textures with 1440
