TF2 - advice please

Thanks Masterdog.

Teleporters are built by engineers - they build an entrance and an exit, and once both are built they can be used by players to shortcut the distance between spawn and objective. They take a few seconds to charge up between uses.

But how do you use them? Is it simply a matter of walking onto it and popping out the other side?

Have a look at Kezmo's binds above - there's some good examples there of what's possible. The medic one is alias "v_uberready" "voicemenu 1 7", then you bind v_uberready to whatever key you like.

Got to be honest but that didn't mean much to me! Will have a fiddle tonight though, in the keyboard settings or actually in the ini file?

just type bind x "voicemenu 1 7" in the console - console is enabled in advanced options.
(where x is whatever key you want.)
type "bind x" on it's own to see what x is bound to

The aliases are useful if you're playing with your binds a lot though so it might be worth using that bit of his config file. An alias like the v_uberready one above just sets the console command "v_uberready" to do the same thing as "voicemenu 1 7".
There are plenty of tutorials around on how config files and the console work, mostly for things like CSS and DoD

Alternatively it may be better to do bind x "say_team Ubercharge blabal" because that will actually print a message to your team, whereas the voicemenu one doesn't (some do, some don't) - it depends if you want your target to be able to hear you or read your message. I was playing last night trying to get a heavy to push forward with about 1min left, using the voicemenu command and "go go go" in combination and he was completely ignoring me, even though he had full health and full ammo (standing next to a dispenser). Bit frustrating sometimes!
I also have some others bound such as "say_team Train incoming" for well and "say_team Behind you" / behind us. Useful as medic.

I need to choose a key for say_team pyro / sniper / sentry down as well I think cause they're useful. That or use a mic, but meh.

Just brought the orange box, never played this before and cant believe what ive been missing out on.
Excellent, and so so much fun. The graphics are very good, got everything maxed out on max resolution with my 8800GTS and its running like a dream. Animations are funny and well done, beats CS:S hands down which ive been playing for ages now.
Im glad ive got the orange box, what with this, HL2:EP2, and portal its a bargain at just over £25.

You'll find that most players usually end up specialising in a couple of classes. At least that's what I found with the original QuakeWorld version of Team Fortress.

I thought that too but I can't seem to decide which one I like best, or even a couple. I keep changing depending on where I'm needed or who I'm fighting most.

At the moment Sniper is my least favourite, then sniper, then demoman. The rest though are fairly balanced after an initial period of playing Engineer and Pyro a lot!

I never got into TF1 but bought orange box and TF2 is brilliant. Just getting the hang of all the classes now and the maps.
Love playing as spy, engineer and sniper. 3 fav classes.

I'm rather unsure what it is your asking here.... ? You get the objectives of the round and abilities of the character?

TF2 is a great fun fun fun game which is great for teamworking and cooperative play! enjoying playing every class as present particularly the scout on the fort2fort map and trying to outsmart the engineers etc... class entertainment. :)

*OT* if you read this can you please go back into the HL2, Ep1 gift thread and add your steam Id or e-mail address so i can send you the HL2 gift ive got down for you, thanks. :)

I find myself mainly playing as Spy and Sniper, if you get a headshot with a Sniper you get 2 points :)

Demo 'ore in matches here, though often mess about as a spy on publics. If any of you in a clan fancy a game just let me know.
